Guest dkgross Posted June 29, 2004 Posted June 29, 2004 and don't foget to hit the gelato stand that's right around the corner from the boat dock. drooool.
helicopterjim R.I.P. Posted June 29, 2004 Author Posted June 29, 2004 I ahd also heard that the museum was open limited hours but Gambalunga has me worried so I have sent an email to the factory. Will keep you posted. Am also disappointed that I won't be able to rent a Moto Guzzi at Agostini's. Ah well, it only means I shall have to return another time - when I can stay 2 weeks and everything is open!!!
twhitaker Posted June 29, 2004 Posted June 29, 2004 It's a long shot, but try Le Volpi Ciccione. He advertises in the Guzzi newsletter. He's an agrotourismo coordinator and may be able to work out a rental deal. www.levolpiciccione.it or info@levolpiciccione.it
jrt Posted June 29, 2004 Posted June 29, 2004 They (Le Volpi Ciccione) did not rent Guzzis as of 2 yrs ago, but they are quite nice to deal with. FWIW, I used a BMW and while it was a fine bike to ride (a bit droopy, but hey...) they are a little wide for Italian roads. Think thin- makes travelling in towns easier. The Breva 750 would be absolutely ideal. Too bad Agostini is not available. J
Paul Minnaert Posted June 29, 2004 Posted June 29, 2004 Antonio, I have to find that road from lecco to milan next time, the only one I know is dull, with trafic lights. Which roadnumber? Â my advice for a road: Â go north to colico, then east sondrio, edolo, then at ponto di legno up the mountain to passo di gavia. passo di gavia: then bormio, passo di stelvio, zernez, st moritz, passo majola, chiavenna, back left side of the lake, to menagio, and over the lake by boat.
Guest vkerrigan Posted June 30, 2004 Posted June 30, 2004 Paul.........Molto Bene!!.................vk
antonio carroccio Posted June 30, 2004 Posted June 30, 2004 Paul, I think it is the SS36. The road with a lot of curves and cement wall to the left and right side of the road, you know what I mean? If you will ride there with open Mistral or open Lanfranconi it’s a music…
Orson Posted June 30, 2004 Posted June 30, 2004 Jim...you may want to check out www.mototouring.com. Â They're out of Milan. Last I heard, they rent Guzzi Le Mans as well as Ducatis, Benellis & Beemers.
helicopterjim R.I.P. Posted June 30, 2004 Author Posted June 30, 2004 Thank you Orson. I will check it out. Â The Guzzi museum is closed. I received an email stating the museum is closed from August 2 to 29. Â I thank the Moto Guzzi factory for a prompt reply.
twhitaker Posted June 30, 2004 Posted June 30, 2004 Le Volpi Ciccione added a couple Guzzis to his lineup this year.
helicopterjim R.I.P. Posted July 2, 2004 Author Posted July 2, 2004 I received an email from Agostini confirming they are closed from Aug 7 to August 22. I wasn't clear on the dates with my first enquiry. They recommend www.biancoblu.com in Milan although they do not rent Moto Guzzi. I think I shall wait til next year and plan a longer holiday - but not in August.
twhitaker Posted July 2, 2004 Posted July 2, 2004 That sounds like a smart move. Ever driven in Seattle or Tacoma at 5 PM?
helicopterjim R.I.P. Posted July 2, 2004 Author Posted July 2, 2004 Not on a motorcycle... I go to Bellingham occasionally.
stormsedge Posted July 6, 2004 Posted July 6, 2004 ...and if I get to Rome in Sept...how hard is it to get to Mandello del Lario? k
jrt Posted July 7, 2004 Posted July 7, 2004 That's a long drive or ride. Mandello is a couple hours ride north of Milan.
