p6x Posted August 20 Posted August 20 (edited) When my home base was set in Paris (France), a member of my family worked for Euro Disneyland later Disneyland Paris since before the inauguration in 1992. I practically lived in the park and the Disney Village since I had unlimited free access. Disney also gave free access to children from a children only hospital, l'hopital Necker in Paris, with rare diseases, including cancer, most of those terminal. I saw many of these groups of kids, in the park as they were wearing a specific badge and were accompanied by nurses additionally to the usual Disney ushers. If you have never seen children in this state, this is heart tearing! you need not be told. One look... you get it right away. It makes you feel bad to be healthy! no kid should have his/her journey in this world complicated by medical situations so early in their lives. If you feel like you would like to contribute; I actually don't have anybody else to ask. I don't know anybody in the USA excepted from you guys. PJPR01 Posted September 27 Posted September 27 Lots of support there for the ride...good to see! How long was the ride?

The "dual sport" ride started between 09:00 and 09:30, and we came back shortly before 11:30. I think we did 55 miles of trails around Montgomery! my understanding was we were going to join the cruisers for the parade, but in fact, we did not. I told the leader of our group, that if I had known that we were going to do terrain, I would not have come. I was preoccupied to be on a 25 years old motorcycle, which I had never ridden in these conditions. But when the group got split at some point, the BMW 1250 GS falled back in the sand. The guy was just being me, staggered, but riding in the sand is nerve breaking since the bike is completely unsteady. So he got distanced. I really enjoyed the Quota. The fueling is the main drawback. I wish there was something that could be done. The bike would really be nice if it wasn't so jerky. The "Ride for Kids" was meant to start at 10:30; They came back between 11:30 and 12:00. Next year, they will do it in April, as many riders suffered from the heat. I met the MGTT director David Canada. Interesting fellow. He is from the East Coast. When he moved to Texas, he implemented the tour. Did you spot the other Guzzi? there was a 1400 California in the parade. The Quota drew a lot of attention from the other "dual sport" guys. Edited September 27 by p6x 2 1
PJPR01 Posted September 27 Posted September 27 Sounds like an interesting if not altogether rewarding day nonetheless, but not well planned or explained in advance. Unfortunately I don't know anything about the Quota fueling issues, is there a forum that exists for Quota owners or a Facebook page. Perhaps someone has some insights into the jerky fueling and potential cures. The bike looks great out in the dirt...seems to be in its element. Does Beetle have any knowledge of the fueling system for Quotas? Nice that you had a chance to talk a bit more extensively with David C....our flyby in Bandera didn't leave much room for chatting other than picking up the numbered flags. He and Lone Star Rider are going to be at Motorheads Museum in Burnet in early November, I stopped by there on my trip to Kansas last week while picking up the remaining stops on the Grand Tour and it was open, so I had a chance to visit finally as on all prior occasions I would get there when they were closed. They have an IMMACULATE Eldorado in there, along with several other very cool bikes and a cool Steve McQueen exhibit as well.
gstallons Posted September 27 Posted September 27 Does the Quota have single or dual throttle bodies ?
audiomick Posted September 27 Posted September 27 It would seem that is only one. Page 59 here https://guzzitek.org/parts_list/gb/1100/1100Quota_1998-2002_052014_PL(GB).pdf I believe p6x has an 1100 Quota, but the 1000 Quota apparently also has a single throttle body. This bike appears to have one single throttle body w/an injector on each intake runner. one throttle body means no "balance" issues . Not as hot as individual throttle bodies but it is a trade off. If there is someone around that can "tune" your bike provided it is needed I would see about doing that.

Davey explained to me why the fueling is not efficient. First, there is the one throttle body for both cylinders. But he also mentionned the placement of the injectors as contributing to the "lag". Plus all the mechanics to open the throttle. The Guzzi Q. will never be a smooth operator... 1

It's not so much performance as to smooth reopening when on slippery terrain. The fueling is very much on/off, and I would like it to be really progressive. But the Guzzi Q. will never be as smooth as the modern motorcycle. I will eventually get the hang of it. I like it a lot (the Guzzi Q.).

gstallons Posted September 29 Posted September 29 according to the parts diagram , there is one injector in each intake runner .

I will check with Davey, but since he had the bike for more than six months... I told him to change anything that needed it. He confirmed he did a complete tune up.
gstallons Posted October 1 Posted October 1 You could use a temp gun and check the temp at each ex. pipe to see how close they are in ex. temp and decide if one side is off. 1
