My V11 odometer just passed 30k.  Its been decent weather this Fall for commuting.

Also, my second season with the Road 5s and they don't show any noticeable wear yet, as far as I can tell.  Maybe have put 4-5k on then so far...

And, I like the stock airbox sound.  Definite improvement.

My next task - maybe this Winter - is to either rebuild my leaky steering dampener or get a new one.  Any recommendations?

I followed Docc's lead on a Shindy damper for one of my past bikes and was happy with it. The stock/upgrade Ohlins unit is prettier, and fits easily. Any aftermarket unit might take a little more work, but I recall the Shindy being pretty easy to fit. I've heard nothing but positives about the Hyperpro, but not tried one myself.

Unless you are really riding hard, the damper is basically there to prevent head-shake (aka tank slappers) in normal street-riding conditions. So anything that prevents large rapid movements will do that job.

I'm happy with mySport's Shindy  ("SHIN-juh"), but not sure if they are still available for the V11 (?)

what were you running on the throttle bodies , K & N ?

I sourced this Shindy in 2009, fifteen years ago, from Moto International, Seattle.

Unfortunately, the invoice only shows the vendor's stock number, no manufacturer's part number

I rebuilt my Bitubo damper. Once you have a tool to unscrew the end, it is easy to dismantle. A trip to the seal shop for o-rings and seals, some ATF fluid, and you have a cheap repair.

I Googled Shindy last night and saw plenty of choices . M/I is a top notch M/G dealership . I will have to check and see what they have .

 The Bitubo rebuild sounds good too .

I am going to try rebuilding mine.  Just have to find an O-ring source.  Like the sound of cheap repair.

I did the same, works fine. And like someone said, only in use when really going wild.  Only ATF +4 (Mopar),,, eeh NO. All ATF works.

The seals in the end-caps, and the o-rings on the outside of the end-caps are the only ones that matter. You can reuse the others if they look OK. That's because most people have the damper set to it's lowest damping setting, so internal leakage is unimportant. What is important is assembly with no air bubbles, and no external leaks.

Watch the orientation of the seals in the end caps. 

Oh, and if you take the mount block off to paint the body (a wood.wedge will open the block enough) then measure it's location. If you try to slide the block as you install it, you damage your nice paint. I know someone with the same name as me did that.
