Artificial Intelligence galore of inventing new motorcycle models; complete with robot voice narration;

Ahead of EICMA, I was combing the net to see if I could get an idea of what Moto Guzzi has in store, outside of the beaten V7 path.

I have been hoping for a smaller cubed engine, as other brands have had much success in the 400ish cc. Praying that Piaggio would not resort to their parallel twin which is used in the Aprilia line.

YouTube is full of those AI generated concepts which are just there to gather viewers but are not based on reality. It seems that many are thinking the Le Mans will be the next revelation, even one using the 850 cc air cooled engine.

Moto Guzzi is not the only target though. You can find Honda resuming six cylinders CBXs too...

I don't expect much Moto Guzzi changes this year. Between the Mandello and the Stelvio, and all the declinations around the V7 and V85 engines, they have rounded the circle. I think what they need is to come out with a modern V45 engine, and use it on a Scrambler, Adventure, models.

I'm still waiting for the Ippogriffo..:oldgit: but I'd settle for a modern 500 single.

Or you could purchase this 1956 Moto Guzzi Iodola for $4500.. it's in Monterey. Seller says its equipped with the 235cc engine; not the 175. Runs like the wind!

There have been some posts on the German forum that there is a new V7 on the way with twin disks on the front, an upside-down fork, and the V85TT motor. Also, a new V100 version that might be not much more than new colour schemes.

@Chuck a proper motor has at least two cylinders. If there are only two, they must be in a 90° V configuration. So there! :bbblll:

:D Mick.. while I *love* the Guzzi twins, and have kept 17 (!) of them over the years,  I have a thing for singles. Always have, since I started riding a Harley eyetalian thumper back in the 60s. I'd be on a modern Falcone like a duck on a June bug, but that will never happen. :grin:

I have to admit, I don't have a great deal of experience with singles. I learnt to ride on a Honda CT 90 that my dad had for riding around on the farm. There was a Suzuki, RM 80 I think, that my dad won in a raffle and gave to my younger brother (who was already too big for it when he got it, but we all flogged the life out of it...), and I remember riding another dirt bike that belonged to the cousin of a girlfriend of the time. No idea what it was, other than that I think it was a 450 or 490, and a two stroke.

The one that left me scarred for life made the most impression on me was the XT 500 that a house mate had in the last place I lived in in Melbourne. A capable bike, and with a motor that qualified as good, if I recall correctly. I rode it a number of times, but never really enjoyed it. Too many vibrations, amongst other things. I just don't get what the fascination with singles is. :huh2:

I dated a single back in college, but once you get started with twins, well . . .  :huh:  :whistle:

I also have a thing for big singles having ridden an SR500 (road version of the XT) from Melb to Darwin back in the day...

Yeah, it had a nice thump and it was a hoot at idle with the front wheel shaking or rocking back and forth, but if you want VIBES you can't beat a big ornery two stroke....!

I vividly remember hammering a mates PE400 ( detuned RM motocrosser ) along a back road in NZ, she was flat out somewhere near the old ton and by bloody hell I thought it was gunna shake every filling outa my teeth and hands were useless for some time after the ride.....Loved it!

Cheers

The most annoying with "Gros Monos" (that's how we used to call them when they came out), is the lack of low rev torque. When I was in Sicily, I had an HD Sporster, and all my colleagues some sort of Honda Dominator, Kawasaki KLX, Suzuki DR; I rode those on the sand of the beaches, and it was a bit like two stroke engines. You could easily stall if you were too low in the rpm.

I never tried a modern fuel injected one, I suppose those are probably not exclusive. Although, Suzuki still sells the DR650 with a carburator, which must be unique given emission controls nowadays.
