what brand were the original rims ?

No idea; inside the case, there were a bunch of old invoices, and on one of them, there were two replacement rims.

He also replaced the electric petcocks which were known to fail, and the oil pressure sensor.

Its actually quite touching because you find the owner's handwriting on documentation and the owner's manual. He was treating his motorcycle with loving care. He wrote down all the flaws that he learned along the way. Hopefully, he watches me from above, and appreciate that I am also doing all I can to make that Quota last.

I wish I could ask him what were the purpose of the holes that were drilled in the fairing.

Were the holes in the lower portion of the fairing?  California Scientific has a good sized hole in the lower center of some of their aftermarket fairings. I talked to a few guys at John Day that had them on their Stelvios. They were very happy with them. They said it equalizes pressure and prevents buffeting.

There are actually three holes that were drilled in the fairing. I really do not have a clue what was installed there.

OEM rims on the Quota were made by Excel.

I thought Excel was a good product ? Was in the front , rear or both rims that were splitting and were these a special "run" of product that was made for MG ?
