If you wanted a KTM, I suggest you go to your dealership! the discounts are "insane".

Just rode to the new Guzzi dealership to check things out.

The nice looking V85TT has sold since my last visit. The one with the Blue Red and White livrée.

All the KTM motorcycles have incredible discounts, up to 5000 USD less on the price tag... Even their best sellers have discounts.

So if you ever thinking about purchasing a KTM, it seems that now is the time. According to some of the media, the worker' salaries and end of year bonuses will not be paid before January 2025. Things are difficult.

There are similar discounts on Husqvarna bikes here in San Diego. And I assume they will also be similar on the Gas Gas models.

Even the e-mountain bikes are discounted. I have the Husqvarna Mountain Cross e-bike and it is a great value, with components equal to Specialized bikes at almost twice the cost.

From what I've been hearing about KTM build quality and reliability, I wouldn't touch one at any price....

Seems to be a lottery as to whether you get a good one or not!

I don't think I'll buy into a dead brand at any price. I don't expect parts availability to improve.

According to the administrator of the brand, following the first reunion that took place yesterday, KTM will survive and will continue. Obviously, major changes are programmed. As usual, they will delocalize more of the production outside of Austria. Typical.

Similar to Audiomick, I never liked the chiseled looks of their motorcycles.

Personally, looking at the KTM bikes yesterday, I think they have too many models built around the same engine. Such as the 390cc; they have at least four or five different variations on that same powerplant.

I agree with that principially, but in the specific case of KTM, I'm pretty sure that the brand will endure at least for a while. As @p6x already wrote, it seems that the company administration is determined that the brand will endure, and I think they will manage to acheive this. :huh2:

Here's the thing about dead brands- if they continue as before, they're at best a zombie. If they change, whatever I bought before is a loser to the company and won't be supported to the same degree as if what I bought had made them successful.

My phone was telling me that KTM has a stockpiled a year's of production bikes.  Something like 230,000 new bikes unsold. 

True or not?  Dunno

Don't know if it is that many, and I couldn't find any figures just now, but I know the do have lots of bikes in stock.

One problem is, as I read just now, some of them (a lot) are Euro 5 emissions spec, and as of January a new registration has to be Euro 5+. So if that want to have any chance of selling them at all, at least in Europe, the dealers have to get them registered (Tageszulassung is the German term, "day registration") before the end of December so the registration happens before the new emissions law comes into force.

I think I saw 275k bikes in KTM inventory worldwide….fire sales are coming for sure to clear that out.  
 

Maybe Red Bull will buy them for 30 cents on the dollar or take a 60% ownership and replace the management with some competent people.  At least it will stay as a going concern but more of a niche brand.  I’d be concerned about their commitment to Service and parts even with a massive discount on the bike.

KTM could be more niche than they have been already? :blink:

I am sorry to think they will do what Cannondale did w/their dirt bikes and inventory .  Bail and fire sale .

Paul, I was thinking that both KTM and Red Bull seem fishy. 

So tell me, how can Red Bull own a F1 team, sponsor everything from cliff diving, aerobatics,  and Moto GP to tiddlywinks and full contact chess from selling crappy soda?  Coke and Pepsi together don't seem to sponsor so many boondoggles.  I don't get it.
