p6x Posted December 25, 2024 Posted December 25, 2024 I am not fully in, because it is not red, but it is in Houston. What I would like your opinion about, are the modifications, especially the airbox and "GuzziTech" race ECU. I did send a message asking on who did the modifications. I really don't like it in black, a dust catcher. The price seems to be reasonable to me, for a well maintained 8.3k miles motorcycle. He obviously wants to make some kind of return on the mods he installed, and he has kept all the stock equipment. Here's the narrative: For sale is a one-owner Moto Guzzi Griso 8V. Phenomenal condition!! 8,318 miles!! Roller tappet recall was completed, as well. Lots of extras: Moto Guzzi locking saddlebags with plastic liners and carrying straps. Polished stainless steel exhaust pipes. Y-pipe eliminator. Mistral exhaust can. Front Fender-Extenda. GuzziTech race ECU. Open airbox. Race brake pads. Moto Guzzi front flyscreen. Lightech LED turn signals. 2 USB connectors on dash. Phone mount on triple tree. Carbon fiber rear hugger. Battery Tender pigtail. Tires are like new. Will also include Dowco indoor cover, stock airbox & air filter, original emissions carbon canister, original exhaust pipe, 2 keys, and all original manuals and documentation. This bike has been meticulously maintained and is gorgeous, unique, FAST, and comfortable! Serious inquiries only!!! Here's the narrative: For sale is a one-owner Moto Guzzi Griso 8V. Tomchri Posted December 25, 2024 Posted December 25, 2024 Looks like a v CLEAN bike, you can always wrap it red. Mr Pete R are very found of the Griso's, just a few minor details. Some greasing at the right places, and may be startus interruptus. I like em in Tenni version. Buy it. Cheers Tom. 3
pete roper Posted December 25, 2024 Posted December 25, 2024 I’ve asked him to email me. I’ll give the full skinny that way. It’s a nice looking machine but it has a few issues that make it less than desirable. 4
activpop Posted December 26, 2024 Posted December 26, 2024 I don't like the open airbox with that filter. I'm not riding wot so the stock paper element cleans air as good as it gets, imo. Lubing up all swing arm and rear suspension bearings needed to be done by now. Important thing to check. Date code on tire is just as important to me as rubber. Worth a look. I'd like to know what Pete says about ecu change and Y pipe eliminator. I installed a beetle map on mine and got a nice improvement for $100. I noticed his FAST description. I never thought of this bike as fast, that not what it's all about, at least to me. I'd say it's fast enough. Suspension upgrades front and rear would be where my money would go. @KINDOY2 had his for sale a while ago that was sorted out better than most any I have seen, except for the last one he built. IDK if it sold or he changed his mind about parting with it. That was the machine to get. Red too. 2
docc Posted December 26, 2024 Posted December 26, 2024 I've never seen any motorcycles better sorted than @KINDOY2's Grisos. 1
Scud Posted December 26, 2024 Posted December 26, 2024 That looks like a nice Griso, and the owner's garage is also well-organized with a few other well-kept toys. That's a good sign. If all the stock parts are included, you can undo any modification you don't like. 5

I have found the GuzziTech site, and they do sell that Y pipe eliminator, but there is no explanation on the reason why it should be an improvement. The way I understand it, the cross pipe helps to balance the backpressure behind the exhaust valves, for a better equilibrium in the fueling? the cross pipe eliminator would only be for aesthetics? As far as the "fast" description is concerned, it brought some memories. In the 70's, you could purchase competition motorcycles, including directly from Yamaha. They were on the catalog right with their road two stroke bikes. A lot of those ready for competition bikes were sold by individuals. I was considering the purchase of a 500 Suzuki prepared by Crooks in UK. Sure enough, the seller had written: Suzuki Crooks 500 ready for the next season, "very fast". I remember calling the guy, and asking him what he meant by "fast". We could never established how "fast" was "fast". He simply said that in the straights, he was overtaking everybody else. So "fast" means anything you want.

This one is a few miles from me, and that is the only reason it captured my interest. It is just opportunistic. The color is a big spanner in the works. But you never know. After I purchased two bikes from other states, and checked one in Boise Idaho, I have a better handle on how expensive it is to search long distance.

My V35 Imola "feels" fast. Makes all the noises like a big motorcycle, wants to rev, is lots of fun. What it isn't is fast in an objective sense. It just feels fast. In reality it is just a slightly worn out four-stroke 350 from the early '80s that is fun to ride, but definitely not really fast.

Also, he is one of the few selling a Griso of that millesime, stating upfront the tappets have received the modification. I remember one being sold not far away from Houston, with the owner having no clue about it, and not wanting to check. It is a plus that it can be returned to stock too. 1
gstallons Posted December 26, 2024 Posted December 26, 2024 (edited) If you are apprehensive , drop it . Like walking into a room and it doesn't feel right , Get up n go. The Vette and the other bike look pretty good , but this is your decision . Edited December 26, 2024 by gstallons 2
audiomick Posted December 26, 2024 Posted December 26, 2024 Have you looked at it yet?. I think the thread has established that the bike is principally probably a sound offer. Go and look at it. If it talks to you, buy it. I know that red is 10% faster, but black is also an option. And the bike does have a couple of red highlights.
gstallons Posted December 26, 2024 Posted December 26, 2024 IDK the good points / bad points on a Griso . Roper would have more weight on this subject than me. If you are looking , get an objective / subjective opinion . Don't buy it because it looks good .

Usually, I can tell very quickly. Not a psy, but age and experience helps. The guy has not yet answered, but he may be in Aruba for the holiday season. We shall see what is says, if he does. I only asked opinions on the stuff that intigues me, such as that GuzziTech ECU, Air intake and exhaust crossover removal. If he could change the color into red, that would helped too.

It is on Facebook Marketplace; if he is like me, I do not use the FB app, and I only look at FB from my computer. No rush. 1
