I'm curious where the serial number puts this Sport in the year 2000 production run . . .

I don't have my reference materials in front of me, but I get that as #1,063 [correction: #1064] of 3,529 Sports for the year 2000.

There is a Month-Year of the actual build on that tag . . .

[edit: I see, now, the "finned" steel exhaust collars of the earlier production.]

[edit 2/ correction: The first Sport built for the model year 2000 (YM) was 1111111 making this Sport # 1064.]

My # 1531 was built 3-2000, supporting the idea they were building "a few hundred" Sports a month in those days.

Early Sports, built before 3-2000, were delivered with pantyhose. They're probably in one of the boxes that came with the bike.

Apparently, the factory resumed including this rare accessory with the 2003 "carryover" Sports.

I'll check, of course, but I'd rather find jeans.

Don't know why I thought of this just now... :huh2:

Funny, I thought of Skyhooks Blue Jeans from Living in the seventies.

Everybody's wearing blue jeans....

Back with my reference materials, I stand corrected.

@Pressureangle's 2000 Sport, 112174 is #1064 (of 3,529 Sports built for the model year 2000).

There is a certain purity to the 2000 model year.  :sun: :mg:

This was pre-Aprilia ownership, the first full year of V11 Sport production, all 2000 V11 spine frames were RedFrame Sports, and the only year that the total Moto Guzzi spine frame production could be derived (AFAIIK).

I cannot wait to lay eyes (and ears!) on this Pressureangle Special Sport . . .  :race:

Right, the Rosso Mandello is a short (black) frame, first generation, Sport / 2001 year model.

No knowing when Moto Guzzi introduced the next "year models." For so long, manufacturers started the next year model in August or September (of the prior year).

A look at your serial number may be a clue. The first for the year model (in 2000 or 2001) would likely be 111111.

2000 "model year" will be YM while 2001 model year bikes are 1M before the six digit serial number.
