OK.................. Crap I have been telling my wife that if I were to acquire another NEW machine it will be a Stelvio here we ago again.........

Problem is I have a 2017 Stelvio that is the second one of that generation that I use for big mileage runs as well as camping trips asphalt only( this second one was purchased new due to the fact it was to be discontinued and blinged accordingly....I have ridden with a few members on here over the years and have it handling very well now )

She's a big girl and their is no chance of me picking it up off the floor if that ever occurred.

So aside from me lying to myself ( about not needing another machine  ) does anyone out there in Guzzi land own or presently own the 2 Stelvios from the two different generations and what would the pros and cons in your humble opinion between the two aside from the obvious?

Very much appreciated.    Ciao

Can't help you there but if the wife says the 2017 has to go, let's talk. :D

I don't have one, either generation, but...

In the German forum that I am active in, a number have bought the new Stelvio, and they all seem very happy. One in particular I know for sure had the older generation, bought a Mandello first, and swapped it for a new Stelvio. He is a fairly big bloke, about 2 metres tall, and his wife is not much shorter. They love the new one.

Ya your not making this any easier

You and I wouldn't have run into each other at the John Day MG events over the years would we?

If it was last year I did in fact have the Stelvio down there.

Your '17 and my '12.  I would like to get the new Stelvio also but like the air cooled simplicity. Plus I haven't seen a color that I love.

Just thought I would fire that out there.............. I would have thought the new Stelvio buyer on this forum would have had a good possibility of having owned the final generation old style is all.

Either way its not my first rodeo with these gems and realize it takes more ...much more than a test ride to get a feeling of a new machine.Im thinking out loud that the power to weight may be felt right off the bat but I remember once riding with a guy with a very nice Ducati L twin making I believe around 160 hp with an overall weight much less that my Stelvio.

I was unpleasantly surprised how  un awesome that package was by comparison to mine and subsequently ended up ordering another new 2017 Stelvio due to that experience.

And yes I know we are creatures of habit and find comfort in things we are familiar with but part of the enjoyment of this hobby/sport is to always try and keep an open mind for a machine that might truly suite you/me better.

So here's to not spending to much time evaluating these machines through the so called internet articles................. right. realistically you pretty much have to own and live with them for a while.  :bike:

If anyone of the members has anything to add please do or PM me if that's more comfortable....... safe space.
