Here's a bunch of home made Guzzi/Ducati tools except for the blue one and the deep socket black one. I "think" the ring nut one is the chrome 4 prong one. It's 1 and 1/8 inch and a but rough I'll admit but a lot of these were pre milling machine home made. They only need to do the job once a lot of the time so practicality overrides looks and longevity.

I can post this fact : $200+ and I don't think so

I was going to find the diameter to verify the price.

I will post it in the a.m. Now , I buy the majority of tools from SnapOn so I am used to absurd prices BUT .

Does anyone know the o/s diameter of the "nuts" in the transmission ? I am going to try to find an affordable socket for this . I see Motion Pro sells some of these sockets.

The Moto Guzzi Parts Catalog shows three of these "special tools" . . .

34mm GU 019 13 430

28mm GU 019 13 830

24mm GU 019 13 730

It is not specified what the "mm" designation refers to, perhaps the thread diameter of the "nut?"

I can probably measure mine in the next few days. They’re at Michael’s workshop though and his new crane is being installed at the moment so the place is a shitfight but I’ll see if I can dig ‘em out and measure them.

Having a socket is infinitely better than buggering about with alternatives, believe me.

Thank you , Pete . I am gonna take the #s Docc posted from a workshop  manual and see how much OEM tools are also ?

Unless similar nuts are used in some of the later bikes, (And apart from the pinion nut in the CARC bevelbox I can’t think of any.) I would be very surprised if the factory still has them available. Certainly the CARC six speed boxes don’t use them and I’d be surprised if any of the smallblock, three shaft, six speeds do either.

The V100 I know next to nothing about but from reading the manual I can’t remember seeing or having reference to any similar fasteners.

No, they don't. I've had my V35 Imola gearbox open a couple of times. You need something to hold the input shaft to get the nut off (110 nM), and a longisch Allen key to get to a particular screw inside, but that's all. The rest is standard metric nuts and bolts.

Yup. None for the ‘Old’ six speed shaft nuts though.

Sorry, Michael’s workshop is still a horror show from the crane installation. I wasn’t able to get near the ‘Special Tools’ box today. Hopefully I’ll be able to in the next few days and I’ll get dimensions and take some pics.

OK, so here are pics of my vast tool!

Well, actually three tools. I’ll endeavour to get the pics up and then if anyone needs further explanation I can add some. The largest one is for the clutch boss nut, the intermediate one is I think the driven shaft nut and the two smaller, three gear shafts use the smallest one.

The dimensions are nut OD and tooth size for the peg slots.

Many thanks to Rolf for making them for me and sending me a set. They’ve served me very well over the last probably quarter of a century!
