gthyni Posted July 29, 2004 Posted July 29, 2004 Come on guys! TIG welding makes a very strong joint, probably stronger then the rest of the lever. My guy welded it in 5 minutes and wanted around $7 for the job. Buy a box of cookie and bribe a pro welder and you get a good nice joint.

If the lever broke again it would NOT be at the weld. There is not a lot of stress on this lever. After all you are just moving it with your toe.
callison Posted July 30, 2004 Posted July 30, 2004 Why is these thing not made by steel? Steel bend and you justbend it back (at least a few times) alu breaks right off. If it were made of steel, a fall on the lever would probably bend the shifter mechanism or fracture the transmission case. J. Kenny does make a replacement shift lever, I have one on my V11 Sport project.
