Guest 2001f4s Posted August 10, 2004 Posted August 10, 2004 Can someone fill me in on the deal with the defective black engine paint. How do I pursue Guzzi on a repaint? Do i need to wait until it starts peeling? Thanks
Guest bshpilot Posted August 10, 2004 Posted August 10, 2004 you know this might not be a bad topic...timely if nothing else since im goin' to my area dealer tomorrow to show them the bubblin' engine paint (and begin the claim process). it might be helpful to know what others experianced and if they had to push the dealer or perform any work outside notifying the dealer and getting their acknowledgement id be curious to know others experiances (and ill be unhappily sharing mine...)
al_roethlisberger Posted August 10, 2004 Posted August 10, 2004 Well, after about 9 months, my case is at the dealer... just waiting on me to drop the bike off. I posted photos of the new case a little while back, and it looks like it will match well enough. There are lots of past threads on this subject, such as: Forum "paint" Search ...there were so many results, I just posted the search link instead But basically, MG(in North America anyway) will do one of two things: 1) Replace the case OR 2) Give you a bunch of swag(about $800 worth if I recall).... but it's prescribed swag, from which you choose the items you want. And then you sign a release, such that said bike can no longer be presented for this warantee claim/work. We've had a couple/three folks on the forum have their cases replaced so far, and so far... all seems to have turned out fine al
Guest 2001f4s Posted August 10, 2004 Posted August 10, 2004 Al, I made need some search training. So far my attempts at searching on different subjects have come up empty. I will get it right the next time Scott
al_roethlisberger Posted August 10, 2004 Posted August 10, 2004 No worries ... I got your back al P.S. I wish we did have a slightly more powerful search function, one that allowed 3 character searchs for example. I can't tell you the number of times I've tried to search for a 3 character title component, but it's not allowed

al_roethlisberger Posted August 10, 2004 Posted August 10, 2004 I don't know if this is the "norm" or not.... just my experience al
Guest bshpilot Posted August 12, 2004 Posted August 12, 2004 well i paid a visit to my area dealer...showed 'em the bubbles and beginning peel. they said theyd submit the claim and order the cases (scarey but they admit theyve not done one YET...that everyone else has taken the "swag")
guzzi323 Posted August 12, 2004 Posted August 12, 2004 that everyone else has taken the "swag") Well, I put in a claim for the swag, but it's been back ordered so I haven't actually 'taken' it. It's only been since last November though. Luckily I don't actually need it.
mikie Posted August 12, 2004 Posted August 12, 2004 is this the norm on the time to recv' the new cases ? Seems normal to me. I put in my claim at the beginning of January, and my dealer still hasn't received the cases. They've been told that the cases are in stock, but that MGNA hasn't yet gotten the rod bolts (whatever those are) and so can't send them out yet. Oh yeah, and I think they're also trying to market some swampland in Florida.
