GuzzTim Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 I know there was a thread somewhere (I think by Al) on possible loose connection/ground for the gauge lights. About a month ago my tach went dark. I pulled the back off the cluster and found the really cheesy sockets for the bulbs. I *think* that the problem is not the grounding, but the wire that goes into the bottom of the socket, which looks like a failure waiting to happen. At any rate, I've got tach lighting sometimes, and sometimes I don't... Has anyone replaced the sockets for these bulbs? Are there any aftermarket sockets? Thanks, Tim
twhitaker Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 I carry a back up lighting system I can use in a flash.
al_roethlisberger Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 Someone posted a photo of putting JB Weld on bottom of the sockets to make sure the wires don't come off.... almost looked like they were dipped. Unless the socket is already broken, this should work to protect the connection. If it's already broken, no, I don't know about any replacements, although someone else may.... I fixed my tach lighting problem by adding another ground to the case. al
