Ive been trying to find the crinkle paint that Guzzi uses for the Scura, I was told that PJ1 has this paint but I can only find references to satin finish on the web site. There is also a product that is used for the dash board on MGB cars but I don't know if the paint is upto high temps. Harley crinkle finish has also been mentioned but I'm not sure if the finish will match the original. Any help out there? maybe one of our dealers can get some from Guzzi????? Do I have to contact Guzzi Direct or is it all down to the good nature of a particular dealer. By the way if there are any out there in the U.K please let me know and I will buy my next Guzzi from you instead of??????? you know who you are!!!. I just asked the dealer (immediately after I inquired what a new Nero Corsa would cost... ) Just kiddin'... I just knew this problem would rise after a while and claimed it within the warantee-period. My dealer TLM said it's a factory screw-up and they would fix it outside the warantee period also; no questions asked. Guest wier Posted September 23, 2004 Share Posted September 23, 2004 My dealer Onyerbike Aylbury, told me to phone up Aprilla and see if I could get any sense out of them, when I phoned they asked me why the dealer had not contacted them instead.This is all getting a bit out of hand if you ask me, where do I get official confirmation that the paint will be sorted by Guzzi so I can force my dealer to backup the claim. TX REDNECK (R.I.P.) Posted September 23, 2004 Share Posted September 23, 2004 Engine cases will not be approved for replacement untill the paint is looking fugly. Digital pics of frame #/ engine # and overall bike are required. No preventative replacements. The approval process is SLOW--- like watching a bridge rust--- Each must be approved by Italy on a case-by case(excuse the pun) basis. Then there's Guzzi's stellar reputation for parts availalbilty. To be honest, we have not had long delays once the work/bux were approved in Italy. Baldini Posted September 23, 2004 Share Posted September 23, 2004 Weir, My bike also came from OYB. They didn't even register warranty w/Guzzi. Did you get a sticker w/warranty reg no? I live in the forest of dean in glos, I have a warrenty book and it has been stapped by OYB, there is also a sticker in the back with a number on it. I have just written a letter to the warrenty center in Italy, with a detailed list of photo's. Weir, Corsa Italiana (London, 0208 7154333 - Baldrick) though expensive, know Guzzis & are very helpful with warranty stuff (although Guzzi get the cases done by another dealer, even on the bikes Corsa supply ). I have also had excellent service from Twiggers in Loughborough (01509 263967 - Mark). Local to you is Streffords in Worcester (01905 23532) - I have heard they are good, tho I have no personal experience. Martin Barrett Posted September 29, 2004 Share Posted September 29, 2004 mine went in to OYB last week for it's 1 year service and I raised warranty issues then - neutral light switch, cracks in header pipes (both) and the engine paint. Gave me the option keeping the loan Fazer, whilst waiting for parts. I opted to have the guzzi back. So service done, and neutral light switch. Photos sent off for crank cases to validate claim (pending) and waiting for headers to arrive before concluding service (setting up fueling). Last autum wanted a new headlight due to a stone smashing but not dislodging glass. Seemed to suffer the same fate as Al repacement fender. But when chased and found , was fitted under very favourable conditions. I think they were a bit embarrased. So at this point I won't condem OYB. Will have to see the out come on the paint and how long the headers take. Of course They were wanting paying for the service and replacement front tyre (5,600 miles). Martin Barrett Posted November 1, 2004 Share Posted November 1, 2004 Serviced on 22 september - warranty claim for header pipes and engine case blistering rang them this morning - "header pipes came in on Friday - nothing back on the engine cases - which doesn't suprise me " so booked in for fitting on 16 Nov I had only made one other chase up telephone call and that would have been four weeks ago. So friday could mean Friday or any time in the last 4 weeks and we haven't told you. Rode the 50 miles one hour (quickest but longer) to OYB to have the headers changed and service concluded. On getting there the chap pops out looks at my guzzi, " Sorry the headers we've got are the ones without the balance pipe" No progress on the blistered crankcase paint either - "waiting a call back from Guzzi UK - chasing same problem on another customers bike" So probably another six week wait for parts to arrive. It was a nice dry mild day for a ride , with the sun not too low. took the senic route back 40 miles hour quarter. Not to sure about the camera van. Was parked on my nearside facing me, rear doors open twin cameras facing out, towards the start of the limit on the exit/enterance of the village. I spotted it for what it was on the approach. paused (slow not stop) to allow oncoming traffic past and not squeezing past. Being responsible road user went past and like a complete idiot rather than being paranoid and making sure i didn't exceed 30, continued sedatly. By the time i reached the three small parrallel line on the road surface. Used to verify speed - distance traveled in set time between two exposures . was near 40 rather than 30 oops.
