scre103 Posted September 21, 2004 Posted September 21, 2004 was told that the rear oem shock on the v11 in un-rebuildable. thinking of going with works performance instead of of olins. what do you guys think. the w-p job will cost about $700 p+l. the olins $1000. do you think that sounds about right? thanks scre
TX REDNECK (R.I.P.) Posted September 21, 2004 Posted September 21, 2004 The stock shock can be rebuilt, but you will still have cost-cutter shock. Penske or Ohlins are top of the line, however Racer X has a lot of good things to say about Wilbers http://www.guzzitech.com/RearShocks-Wilbers.html
Guest bkolstad Posted September 21, 2004 Posted September 21, 2004 I have a good used one I'll let go cheap. It's not WP it's the other one. I can't recall the brand right now. But it's the stock one that's not WP. Bob
scre103 Posted September 22, 2004 Author Posted September 22, 2004 what about the sachs shocks, i see they are on some of the 2004 v11's. the wilbers look good, but do you need to get the optional adjuster or could you use the current one?
Paul Minnaert Posted September 22, 2004 Posted September 22, 2004 Almost all v11 have the sachs-boge shock, so you leaking one is the same. You are the first to have this problem as I know of. You cant use anything from it for a new shock.
Guest friz Posted September 24, 2004 Posted September 24, 2004 MY OLINS JUST BLEW ON MY SCURA , HOPEFULLY MG WILL FIX THE PROBLEM.
Guest watanabe Posted September 24, 2004 Posted September 24, 2004 I think OHLINS seal is more looser than SACHS-BOGE. less friction is 1st,longevity is next.
guzzi323 Posted September 24, 2004 Posted September 24, 2004 MY OLINS JUST BLEW ON MY SCURA , HOPEFULLY MG WILL FIX THE PROBLEM. 34197[/snapback] Did it blow at the seal? I ask because mine blew out where the hose connects to the remote reservior. I've never talk to anybody who has seen a failure at this point. This was not long after my shifter spring was replaced. I think the mechanic at the shop might not have removed the reservior out of the way when he was working on it and maybe unduly strained it. I can't imagine why it would have gone otherwise..
Guest friz Posted September 24, 2004 Posted September 24, 2004 IT WAS LEAKING DOWN THE SHAFT AND OUT THE RES ONTO THE GROUND
