Guest Bruce Posted October 4, 2004 Posted October 4, 2004 This was one of those rare, gratifing 10 minute fixes which make me wonder why I didn't get around to it sooner. Awhile back I noticed that the seat base was hitting the battery and had worn a groove in it. The front of the battery tray sits on top of a bracket welded to the frame with nuts welded in place under the bracket. I was able to slide the tray under the welded on nuts, using longer bolts and nuts. I had to grind off the corners just a little and it slid right into a notch where the frame tubes come together. The seat no longer hits the battery and the shock doesn't hit the tray ( and after 300 miles on rough roads I am convinced it won't ). An unexpected benefit is that the seat feels better. It got me thinking that the plastic frame on bicycle seats are designed to flex and getting the right flex is crucial for comfort. Apparently its important on the Guzzi as well.
