Gas Tank Heat "Shield"

There was a brief mention of the foil shield beneath the gas tank...well, there is none on mine and I suspect it just wasnt replaced when I had the tank painted about 18 months ago.

 

In the meantime the bike (01 V11 Sport) has gone through a HOT Modesto (CA) summer wuth no ill effects.

 

I am now in process of putting on air filter pods and wonder if I should replace the foil, or is it really a non-issue?

Joe I ordered some from Summit racing for a CAI I was working on for my P/u. I think I paid $17 for a 12x24 sheet, but you can probably find something similar at a heating A/C place. http://www.thermotec.com/products/full/13500/13500.html
