Guest Nogbad Posted June 14, 2006 Posted June 14, 2006 I was thinking that myself. If the clutch was getting hot, and the plates warping and dragging, it would have the effect of making the shift very balky. The other thing to check is the pushrod. Maybe one end has welded itself and then worn shorter. In that case the lever might not have enough throw to disengage the clutch fully.
Motorfinger Posted June 14, 2006 Posted June 14, 2006 My 03 spring broke at 10,500 miles. Had the correct size boss. I'm going to replace it every winter just to be safe. It only takes about 45 minutes.
biesel Posted June 14, 2006 Posted June 14, 2006 Sometimes it so simple ... Me and a friend also had problems shifting gears in warm ambient. The problem was the shift linkage. Just unfix the self-locking nuts a little bit to test ist. High quality rod ends, eg. from www.askubal.de, solved this problem. Shifting through the gears even in warm weather became much much better.

biesel Posted June 14, 2006 Posted June 14, 2006 Note: You have to use srews with a flat head, exactly like the one MG uses, there ist not much space left between the linkage and the gearbox housing.
