Fork Oil Change

I got an easy one here.....I have the forks out and the caps off and am draining the old oil out but the manual says that the springs have got to come out to drain all of the oil. So far I have about 350ml of oil out so far with the thing inverted and draining slowly. I sure don't want to fight the spring if I don't have to.

 

Also, any recommendations as to the weight of oil to go back into a stock fork??
