emulsified oil

 I,ve just done my valve clearances but to my horror i found sh@t loads of emulsified oil inside the rocker covers!! the rest of the oil system seems unaffected and im guessing its due to local condensation internally around the rocker cover area.Where i live is pretty cold and damp much of the time(Isle of Man)! now im thinking of somehow fitting a breather to each cover ,have any of you out there heard of this problem or even done a breather mod??. cheers :bier: cliffy!

Rather than a possibly complex breather system, would it not be better to simply obstruct the flow of air through the oil cooler with a cover?

I've used that trick on my Guzzi and my "Air Head" BMWs. It works well as long as you remember to remove the obstruction when it gets hot.

That might not be a problem on the IOM but where I live it can be cool at my house (lets say around 50F/ 10C and foggy) and hot (100F/ 38C with blazing sun) a few hours and miles later. Forgetting to take the block off could be bad for the motor. :homer:

But at a minimum of 10C, you don't need to cover the oil cooler at all....simply ride a little longer and faster :race: and get that oil warm.

It gets down here at times to just under 0C and I don't cover the cooler, mainly because every day usually sees me riding for at least 3 hours.
