Guest LarryTX Posted December 20, 2004 Posted December 20, 2004 My wife and 4 friends went out there the weekend after Thanksgiving. This was our 3rd trip out there and I think we stayed at the best place yet, The River Haven Cabins. Some of them sit on a cliff overlooking the Frio river. Log cabins with big porches great for sitting around telling lies and drinking what ever floats your boat. FM337, FM336 & FM335 are all with-in reach. Great location. Stop over and check out the Lone Star Motorcycle Museum in Vanderpool. Have an Aussie pie and check out the bikes. We have a double cabin reserved for the first weekend in April. You might want to join us. I'm sure they have plenty of cabins left.
jrt Posted December 20, 2004 Posted December 20, 2004 Oh, yeah! We used to go out to the Frio for camping when I was young. My Grandparents, parents, and a passle of kids. That's a great area- right at the edge between West Texas and the Hill Country. J
antonio carroccio Posted December 21, 2004 Posted December 21, 2004 Larry, you better change your avatar. I think we have twice now. Welkom on this forum anyway...
staedtler Posted December 27, 2004 Posted December 27, 2004 Larry... i've been there before, cool place. I found it by accident when the frio river overflowed and could not make it across to Leaky, it was bad enough that a dude on a goldwing got washed away the day before. So i stayed there for a while looking over to see if anyone on two wheels would give it a try, no luck... anyway if you guys are going shoot me a mail to see if we can hook up
