callison Posted March 22, 2005 Author Posted March 22, 2005 I would test the high RPM voltage output. It should be 14.1-14.6 Volts. If not, there is your problem, or the way your luck is running, one less of your problems.... 46759 I should, except that I cruised down the road this weekend at 7000 rpm in third gear for two miles. No problem. Slowly exceeded the rpm limt, and wham - the fuse blew. I still haven't added an extra ground on the regulator though and I will add one to the ECU case as well. You should see the ground wires I'm putting together - you could tow another bike with 'em Just waiting for the damn rain to quit. No riding for at least a couple of more days anyway - Doctor's orders.
callison Posted May 20, 2005 Author Posted May 20, 2005 Hi Carl,Any luck with that ECU swap? 52232 Dave, thanks for letting me try your other ECU. It works just like mine, i.e., the fuse still blows. I suppose that's encouraging as it means that the problem lies elsewhere and not in the ECU. I'm going to have to swap a regulator out with one of the other bikes and see if it's just a flaky regulator. After that, the only thing left is literally the wiring harness. I did add some very nice heavy duty ground wires to both the regulator and ECU to preclude that specific type of problem, but that didn't cure anything.
