Guzzirider Posted January 24, 2005 Posted January 24, 2005 Take a look at: http://www.motorcyclenews.com/nav?page=mot...NEWS_OTHER-NEWS What next? Will they be designing bikes with in plug in points for your colostomy bag? Special foot boards for riding in slippers? Carbon fibre bike mounted zimmer frames? GPS that tells you what the area used to be like when it was still all fields?? A trip computer that remembers the price of a pint in 1958?
Admin Jaap Posted January 24, 2005 Posted January 24, 2005 To be honest, I'm glad the EU is not the only organisation/country that comes up with thes silly, patronizing advices and turns them into laws... Don't get me started on Brussels, bunch of hopelessly inbred, genetically damaged, semi-morons who have never had to do a stroke of real work in their lives and survive as a parasitic excrescence off the side of the European economy Thanks, Pete!
dlaing Posted January 24, 2005 Posted January 24, 2005 To be honest, I'm glad the EU is not the only organisation/country that comes up with thes silly, patronizing advices and turns them into laws... 41776 I wish we Yanks could say we are happy to oblige...but it pisses us off, too But at least they are only recommendations and not laws, yet.... I would not be suprised if they start making senior citizens take drivers tests every year.
jimbemotumbo Posted January 24, 2005 Posted January 24, 2005 Take a look at: Special foot boards for riding in slippers? 41773 I'm still young enough to ride in Birkenstocks, thank you very much!
Ralph Werner Posted January 25, 2005 Posted January 25, 2005 Kinda funny that the article omitted car, SUV, and truck drivers. I guess that they don't have the same problems with age as us ancient motorcyclists.
Dirtybill Posted January 25, 2005 Posted January 25, 2005 Carbon fibre bike mounted zimmer frames? 41773 How much do you want for it??? It wasn't me last weekend who did a Flying W on his DRZ400 ........for a change
Steve G. Posted January 25, 2005 Posted January 25, 2005 I wonder if the study they talk about differenciates between 40-55 riders who never gave up the sport, and those who have just come back in to bikes, or are old 'newbies'. I bet there's something there. Ciao, Steve G.
Dirtybill Posted January 27, 2005 Posted January 27, 2005 Joey Dunlop was an old fart. A lot of the top bike riders in the Dakar are well into thier late 40's. Does this mean there's hope for me????
Guest Bruce Posted January 27, 2005 Posted January 27, 2005 Rant on. Applied Silliness! A government specialty and apparently a growth area as well. We had the OSHA inspector ( government work place safety inspector ) in the other day. Talk about goofy. A welding contractor we had in immediately left the building. I wouldn't hire this guy to mow the lawn. So, do these 'experts' have data? Do they know if its eye sight or are out of shape riders the primary cause? Cop: "Sir I see from your license that you are over 40, we'll need you do some push ups sir". And if they consider middle age 40-54 w-w-what do they think if you're over 54? I thought middle age is when you travel via tour bus, eat at the Cracker barrel, and hoard your Viagra for a trip to see the 'nieces'. Rant off.
Dirtybill Posted January 27, 2005 Posted January 27, 2005 Age is just a state of mind, isn't it? That's what I keep telling myself anyway
biesel Posted January 27, 2005 Posted January 27, 2005 Old people on bikes, e.g.: (Thanks to Jens from the German V11 Forum. I won an "exhaust quiz", that was my price.)
helicopterjim R.I.P. Posted January 27, 2005 Posted January 27, 2005 Age is just a state of mind, isn't it? That's what I keep telling myself anyway 42009 As I keep saying every time I make a reply "I may grow old but I will never grow up!". I wonder what Steve @#$$#! would make of this!. Six regional #1 plates in roadracing last year and he's in his fifties! I'll have to warn Jim Redman about that! Wait - he was winning races at Daytona in his sixties! Oh well, I'm only in my forties so maybe I should start racing again. THAT's what I'll do with the MGS when it arrives!
