Guest WildJackal Posted January 30, 2005 Posted January 30, 2005 I'm having a hell of a time getting the rear bolt out. The brass insert is spinning. I hacked the head off but therw is nothing to grab. I will be putting anti sieze on it in the future.
callison Posted January 30, 2005 Posted January 30, 2005 Wait until you try to figure out a way to get the thing to work after you've yanked the brass insert clear out of the plastic. And no, you don't want to know what I did.
stormsedge Posted January 31, 2005 Posted January 31, 2005 Nuts, just installed my FbF Airbox kit yesterday...and guess who didn't use anti-sieze this time? k
Guest motomaniac Posted January 31, 2005 Posted January 31, 2005 Wished I'd have read this before I put mine on.
Guest Thundering Subash Posted January 31, 2005 Posted January 31, 2005 Sorry to hear others have had this problem as well. I thought it was just a fluke problem I was experiencing. I had a hell of a time getting the front bolt to thread back in after replacing my air filter. -Chris

Its better to loosen this bolt then the airbox bolt lines up exactly...the boss bolt can be tightened after with an angled allen key.
Guest WildJackal Posted February 2, 2005 Posted February 2, 2005 I had to tear the bolt and brass insert out of the plastic. Used duct tape to close off the hole, filled it with epoxy and put the brass insert back in. Lotsa anti sieze this time! Looks good! You can get to that bolt by lifting the back of the tank.....
al_roethlisberger Posted February 2, 2005 Posted February 2, 2005 ..... of course, if you just lose the airbox all-together al
jrt Posted February 2, 2005 Posted February 2, 2005 You might want to check out the bolts on the front fender as well. Same kind of setup. J
