big J Posted February 20, 2005 Posted February 20, 2005 Is the second bike a Derrot?(manufactured in France) ?
Admin Jaap Posted February 20, 2005 Posted February 20, 2005 Back to the third one: BMW engine in a Victoria (from Nürnberg - D)
Guzzirider Posted February 20, 2005 Posted February 20, 2005 Somebody will post a photo of a V11 on a website in 80 years time as a quiz question and everyone will think it is a 1970s bike.
helicopterjim R.I.P. Posted February 20, 2005 Author Posted February 20, 2005 Back to the third one: BMW engine in a Victoria (from Nürnberg - D) 43831 Bravo!! Give yourself a point!
helicopterjim R.I.P. Posted February 20, 2005 Author Posted February 20, 2005 The first one is a Brough Superior called "coppernob" I think it was used at Brooklands for record attempts in the twenties 43825 You have the correct track at least.
Admin Jaap Posted February 20, 2005 Posted February 20, 2005 Big J is close with Derrot; it's called Terrot
helicopterjim R.I.P. Posted February 20, 2005 Author Posted February 20, 2005 The Brough company used either JAP(J A Prestwich and sons) or matchless v-twins 43827 Possibly but it is not a Brough.
helicopterjim R.I.P. Posted February 20, 2005 Author Posted February 20, 2005 Is tne engine in the first bike a Harley Davidson 8 valve (usa) ? 43828 No.
helicopterjim R.I.P. Posted February 20, 2005 Author Posted February 20, 2005 Is the second bike a Derrot?(manufactured in France) ? 43829 You are so close it hurts. If you can guess what decade it was manufactured I'll ask Jaap to give you a point.
helicopterjim R.I.P. Posted February 20, 2005 Author Posted February 20, 2005 Big J is close with Derrot; it's called Terrot 43837 Correct but perhaps the decade for the point still.
helicopterjim R.I.P. Posted February 20, 2005 Author Posted February 20, 2005 The first one is a Brooklands track bike known as Copperknob. I think the engine was either an Anzani or a JAP. Both UK manufactured. 43826 Track correct. Nickname of bike correct. You are on the right track with the engine but you will have to pick the right one and then the correct country of manufacture (that should eliminate one of them and the other had an agent in England but the engines were manufactured elsewhere). Still need the manufacturer of the bike.
jrt Posted February 20, 2005 Posted February 20, 2005 (first one) It sure looks like a '23ish harley racer, an eight valve. Are you referring to the 'banjo' motor developed by Ottoway and Ricardo? Jason

Are you referring to the 'banjo' motor developed by Ottoway and Ricardo? Jason 43843 No. I must make a correction. The company that manufactures the engine for the first bike did have a manufacturing facility in England although the parent company was elsewhere so Nogbad has the correct country of engine manufacturer. So the name of the bike and motor has still to be decided.
