richard100t Posted February 21, 2005 Posted February 21, 2005 I took the side covers off my RM today because they are probably not replaceable if damaged. I like the more bare look a lot! Of course theres some sort of airbox contraption hooked up to the carbs. Sorry it got dark out & I had to quit playing with it lol. My question is do I need to remove the tank? At this point the answer is almost certainly yes. I assume the airbox is under the tank & thats when I'll get a better idea of what to do. If anyone has some nice side pics of the k&n filter setup I'd really appreciate it if you'd post me a link
twhitaker Posted February 21, 2005 Posted February 21, 2005 There is a thread in the "How to" section for removing the fuel tank. Look at the "Air Intake" thread in the FAQ section. I noticed a couple good pictures just doing a search for "pods."
richard100t Posted February 22, 2005 Author Posted February 22, 2005 I just went through the air pods thread & found what I wanted. The K&N pod that fits right on the TB. It looks really cool without the side covers! Now I just have to buy the filters & wait for warmer weather! Btw does the bike have to be remapped with the pod setup?
twhitaker Posted February 22, 2005 Posted February 22, 2005 I'll bet it does. Changes like these tend to lean out the system. Mine leaned out a little bit just by changing the paper filter to a K&N rectangular element.
jrt Posted February 22, 2005 Posted February 22, 2005 Wouldn't hurt, but it's also not necessary. Also, that's kind of a pain unless you have a PCIII. It will almost certainly be a good idea to richen the mixture a bit at the TPS. I believe a some of this was covered in a recent thread- http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=4506&hl= or at least will be of interest to you.
