Admin Jaap Posted March 4, 2005 Posted March 4, 2005 In Holland they drop the engine and repaint the cases. So no new cases. I will pick up my bike tomorrow with the repainted cases.
DeBenGuzzi Posted March 4, 2005 Posted March 4, 2005 let us know how it looks eh? and I don't care how cold it is you better go for a short spin
DeBenGuzzi Posted March 5, 2005 Posted March 5, 2005 Wuss , at least ride it around the parking lot b4 you trailer it . or however you are going to magically transport it back home .
GuzziHutch Posted March 5, 2005 Posted March 5, 2005 My '03 Lemans has the wrinkle paint, so I guess it must be an early '03 model as all the other '03s I have seen have the smooth paint. I purchased the bike new in Sept. of 2004, so the warrenty runs for a good while yet. So far the paint has held up pretty well, but I have two questions: Do all the wrinkle paint bikes ultimately suffer from the bubbling paint problem? If one elects to have the engine cases replaced does that mean the resulting bike has some cases (engine) with smooth paint and some with wrinkle paint (tranny, rear drive)? That sounds horrible! Any one who has had the cases swapped please let me know. Thanks for you help! Joe
al_roethlisberger Posted March 5, 2005 Posted March 5, 2005 I'm not willing to say ALL "fuzzy" engine'd bikes WILL bubble, but I can say that I've never seen one that didn't... so take that as you will Unless MG fixed something with the batch at the very end of the run, I would expect that yours eventually will. BTW, it often starts to flake off of other places eventually as well, such as the trans, and bevel, but takes longer. The problem seems accelerated by heat exposure. al
