It's probably the last one available because it's the first one that was built. That particular bike was undeniably the most hideous appearing motorcycle ever built.

but was it fast? its a given that it was very unique maybe ahead of its time(something not heard very often around guzzi) The price seems very high but most certiantly a peice of history.

It's not a classic in the literal sense, as it's a relatively recent bike.

Neither is too attractive though, and I don't see the advantage of all the complexity a V8 in a bike engine offers. The V8 components end up being so small, exhausts, etc... that it ends up looking like a toy engine

No. That's NOT the first one. That's the re-designed one. The first one, the Mk1, was styled by Pininfarinag and believe me, it was frickin' hideous.

Someone should buy it, spray in matt black, then use it as a despatch bike in London until it dies.

 

At least it will have served a purpose in its life.

This doesn't look like no toy to me, and you can find spares at ANY local auto parts store

Also like the old guzzi's its an Auto (2speed auto anyway) so you can haul ass AND eat your ice cream cone at the same time.

Here's a web page with some pictures and info. Apparently it is "softly tuned". I think I read somewhere that the engine was a bit gutless but undoubtably smooth.

 

The quoted price in the mid-nineties was $60,000. I'd be willing to bet you'd get a whole lot more than $120,000 for it 10 years from now.

The restyled one, to me, isn't any uglier than a late model BMW RT. In fact, they look similar.
