callison Posted March 8, 2005 Posted March 8, 2005 I saw this ad in Classic Bike magazine: Morbidelli V-8 One of only four built. Last one available. $120,500 + VAT 45498 It's probably the last one available because it's the first one that was built. That particular bike was undeniably the most hideous appearing motorcycle ever built.
DeBenGuzzi Posted March 8, 2005 Posted March 8, 2005 but was it fast? its a given that it was very unique maybe ahead of its time(something not heard very often around guzzi) The price seems very high but most certiantly a peice of history.
al_roethlisberger Posted March 8, 2005 Posted March 8, 2005 It's not a classic in the literal sense, as it's a relatively recent bike. ...and oh, I don't know, it's not too bad looking in a sorta "BMWish" way http://www.motalia.de/morbidelli_v8_850.html Heck, it doesn't look toooo different than the ill-fated V11 GT Neither is too attractive though, and I don't see the advantage of all the complexity a V8 in a bike engine offers. The V8 components end up being so small, exhausts, etc... that it ends up looking like a toy engine al
callison Posted March 8, 2005 Posted March 8, 2005 No. That's NOT the first one. That's the re-designed one. The first one, the Mk1, was styled by Pininfarinag and believe me, it was frickin' hideous. .
Guest Nogbad Posted March 8, 2005 Posted March 8, 2005 120K!!!!! Just because something is rare doesn't make it desirable. Surely you could never use this thing anyway, how could spares be obtained for one thing!
Guzzirider Posted March 8, 2005 Posted March 8, 2005 Both versions are ugly. Someone should buy it, spray in matt black, then use it as a despatch bike in London until it dies. At least it will have served a purpose in its life.

Paul Minnaert Posted March 8, 2005 Posted March 8, 2005 another jay leno bike? If money is so much available, you buy these sort of bikes. Maybe I would.

Orson Posted March 8, 2005 Author Posted March 8, 2005 but was it fast?45507 Here's a web page with some pictures and info. Apparently it is "softly tuned". I think I read somewhere that the engine was a bit gutless but undoubtably smooth. The quoted price in the mid-nineties was $60,000. I'd be willing to bet you'd get a whole lot more than $120,000 for it 10 years from now.
badmotogoozer Posted March 8, 2005 Posted March 8, 2005 morbid is right! At least it was appropriately named... Rj
Dirtybill Posted March 8, 2005 Posted March 8, 2005 The restyled one, to me, isn't any uglier than a late model BMW RT. In fact, they look similar. Imagine an Italian manufacturer putting out a V-8. Let's say it's MV. Then imagine them hiring Ferrari to do the exhaust
TX REDNECK (R.I.P.) Posted March 8, 2005 Posted March 8, 2005 Imagine an Italian manufacturer putting out a V-8. Let's say it's MV. Then imagine them hiring Ferrari to do the exhaust FAR OUT!!! Now imagine a Dodge Tomahawk dirt bike
