zebulon Posted March 24, 2005 Posted March 24, 2005 To me if you want to drive the SuperTwin this year just don' t think about the 4V engine. Sure you could found one or i could sell you one (i have now 3 spares daytona/centauro engine gearbox, injections ...) The problem is not there. As i already told here to fit a 4v engine in the supertwin you need : - cut the timing case to leave the frame enough place - find a way to put a tachometer system as you could not use the 2v system, the 4v engine will go so near of the frame that there is no place for the guzzi system. - find a way to change place were the battery is because with the 4v engine you must remove the battery from where it is ! - modified the fairing fixation system - modified the fairing itself - you must find a complete 4v wire loop with the injection system & computer (different from the supertwin one) - find a way to put the big Marelli computer on the bike this 2 points can be solved easely by using a Moto Spezial unit with a complete brand new wire loop so it cost a bunch. And so perhaps you could have the 4v engine in. You understand why i talked about more than Hundred hours of work :!: I think the better way to go is to use the 2V engine and to tuned it. First put the racing kit of SuperTwin (racing exhaust + ignition system) 7 HP more at the rear wheel. A belgium firend is really happy with the bike like this. And he ride with Duc's friend without problem. The SuperTwin have a really better motricty than a Guzzi could have, and a perfect balance of mass between front & rear. It change a lot of things reagerding a guzzi frame. You will perhaps be a little surprised by the gearbox which is quite harder than the V11 even if ghezzi work on the gearbox. Without the racing kit you will found the 5th to long like an overdrive for the highway. With the racing kit no problem. Then if you really want more send the bike to someone like Dynotec They could upgrade the engine from 1060 cc up to 1160 and then you will have around 20 mor HP. A big work will be needed on the injection system too. It cost a bunch but it could be done, and when sending bike to those kind of specialist don't be to hurry to have your bike back it often take several months ...
