velofish Posted March 12, 2005 Posted March 12, 2005 If it ever warms up here, I will be able to put the new Verlichi 'bars on the goose. I would like to add heated grips at the same time. Is anyone using these? Any recomendations? TIA I got frost-bite in my hands years ago, and now the only bike I can ride when it is in the 50 degree range is my BMW K75 rt. Please save me from this humiliation. John
jrt Posted March 12, 2005 Posted March 12, 2005 Don't have heated grips, but the electric gloves by gerbing work nicely for me. The problem with electric gloves is that the wires are a PIA. The advantage is that they heat the backs of your hands. Jason
al_roethlisberger Posted March 13, 2005 Posted March 13, 2005 Wow, seems like the opposite time of the year to be asking about heated grips Anyway, check out the following threads: http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?...c=4460&hl=grips http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?...c=3686&hl=grips ..."search" is your friend I had the "Hot Grips" but found them to be too large in diameter, and too hard. I went with the under-grip elements, which seem to be most popular amongst the "Sport-touring.net" crowd. They allow for the use of your favorite grip over them, and are dirt cheap al
velofish Posted March 13, 2005 Author Posted March 13, 2005 Thanks guys. I like the grip idea better than the gloves because of the stray glove wires and a more "sano" appearance. And, Al, it is usually edging up to the 50's here by now, but we have had snow and teens to 30 temps. I am going to go spray some aerosol cans into the air to hurry up global warming. Thanks again for the input. I will check out those threads. John

al_roethlisberger Posted March 13, 2005 Posted March 13, 2005 ...well then, I guess I am a wimp. I like heated grips
velofish Posted March 13, 2005 Author Posted March 13, 2005 Murray you evil sod . Keep that up and we will send back Olivia Newton-John.
callison Posted March 13, 2005 Posted March 13, 2005 I'm using the $25 specials sold down at my local Ducati/Buell dealer. I think they're made by Kimpo. I also run an extra resistor in series with the right grip to keep the heat more balanced.
velofish Posted March 13, 2005 Author Posted March 13, 2005 Going to go with the dual-star under grip elements. You can get them with the hi-low switch or an automatic thermostat. 1-(800) GO-N-RIDE (for the benefit of future thread-searchers). Thanks for all the help. John
