Guest PAULSMART Posted March 23, 2005 Posted March 23, 2005 I took the V11 out last Sunday - first nice spring day here in UK - and came across a guy pushing his Duke 999, stopped to help, and he embrassingly said he had just filled up with diesel I've been wondering since what this poor chap would have to do to clear system, presumably a little more than draining tank and cranking some petrol through on the starter motor???? Moral of story is it's not just your riding that could be a bit rusty after the winter lay off. Paul
big J Posted March 23, 2005 Posted March 23, 2005 I'd change the fuel filter and plugs, clean out the tank and fuel system and it should be ok.Petrol in a diesel engine is a lot worse;seen a bent rod in a 12 litre truck engine. Then again, maybe the Ducati rider got it right in the first case
twhitaker Posted April 30, 2005 Posted April 30, 2005 I know a guy who had to drain diesel from his Jackal year before last. They were at a gas station in WV or KY and the attendant was marveling the Guzzis. "Ain't never seen one of those before. As a matter of fact I ain't never seen any motocsickle that ran on diesel." Fortunately all Jerry had to do was drain the tank.
