Guest Cantaloop Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 Hi there, what do you think about this? And how much would you pay for this?
Guest Nogbad Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 It's nice, but wouldn't it be better if a design could give a bit more protection to the shock and rear of the tranny. I don't know if an additional separate bolt in section could be contrived. I must have a look at mine. Price for a carbon hugger, dunno.... It wouldn't be high on my list of mods, I would buy something like a deep V sump first, or a louder set of cans. The standard black thermoplastic hugger isn't exactly heavy.
Guest Cantaloop Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 I will check out, what is possible. We all like to have more protection to the shock...

Alex-Corsa Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 I will check out, what is possible. We all like to have more protection to the shock... That carbon fender looks perfect !! A rear fender like this woould cost about 200-250Euros new in shop I think/. I just got today my front fender carbon for my 1100i sport Corsa. Believe it or not I got it new in ebay for 45Euros from Germany. I am so excited because this thing is so light. I thought to make carbon all my bikes plastics(fairings ect.ect.)Then I would gain many kilos out of the bike. (Though empty my pockets well ) Anyone has any idea if there's someone who can or makes stuff like these? Grusse Cantaloop schreib mal ein bisschen mehr oft hier.
al_roethlisberger Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 Hi there, what do you think about this? And how much would you pay for this? 47865 Nice rear fender, but it looks exactly like one that is currently commercially available... and is super spendy. Is this that unit? The problem with this hugger, is that although it may weigh a bit less, and looks spiffy, it offers no more protection than that stock hugger for the rear shock and transmission, especially the breather which can ingest water. What we need is something like this, but with a "tongue" that also extends down in front of the rear wheel to shield the rear of the transmission and the shock. The fender shown will do neither, and allow water and debris to shoot directly at both

al_roethlisberger Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 What ,where is the "breather"? 47926 On the 6-speed bikes, it is on the rear of the transmission, and looks exactly like the breather on the bevel. It unfortunately is perfectly placed to ingest water into the transmission. If you ride in a wet climate, this can be a problem. I can't seem to find a photo of it off-hand, but there should be one floating around. See the following threads: http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?...ic=386&hl=milky http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?...c=1419&hl=water http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?...ic=401&hl=milky http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?...482&hl=breather http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?...456&hl=breather http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?...c=1419&hl=water On the 5-speed models, the breather is located on the side of the transmission, so it is less of an issue apparently(see 5-speed schematic in the following thread): http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?...ic=984&hl=milky al
Alex-Corsa Posted April 6, 2005 Posted April 6, 2005 Thanks for the info Al and I'll check these threads out for my education. A simple question is, should I worry about a problem like this on my 5Speed gearbox? of the Sport 1100i??... I hope not.
