Im in North-Western part of virginia...its gets pretty warm in the

garage in the summer...I had pretty good fan that i wasnt using

so i mounted it to the ceiling...

Ive since discovered they make a sim. version of this fan that is

control by an infared remote (i mounted a switch lower on the wall

which accomplishes the same thing)

also here a fairly obvious way to get multiple bikes in a garage....

ive found it works well & have gotten more in the same space when

ive had too (i USUALLY keep the dirt bikes someplace else).

Fan/Parking Pics HERE

Dont bother wasting a breath about my air/plumbing set up...its 600psi test...

ive got drops in the front/corners (dear the garage door) and a reelcraft

overhead reel (no pictures, sorry)

PVC is rated for 600psi????  I thought you needed iron pipe for that.

well thats what it says on the pipe...now granted thats at 70f.

its PVC Schedule 40 PVC Pipe & Fittings,

i got this stuff @ LOWES & its made by Charlotte Pipe

I dont endorse or recommend this...im sure there are issues & its

said compressed air should not be used w/ this pipe...but i never

run more than 120psi and even that is rare.

Cool- 120psi is no problem for PVC. One bit of warning though- PVC does degrade on exposure to UV light (the sun). Not quickly, but it does (like...years). Wear safety glasses, I guess, which is always good advice when working.

yeah i understand the 'risk'...but considering i'm in a garage (little or

no UV exposure) i figure im probably ok...and i dont keep the lines under

pressure unless im 'using air'.

the problem w/ pvc is explosive bursting/schrapnel when it comes apart...

but im hopeful that im buying my self a margin of safety by working at about

1/6th the maximum pressure.

id love to have copper or black pipe but its a WHOLE lot MORE trouble-some

to cut/thread (if its black pipe) or solder (if its copper)...i plumbed my

old garage in houston texas for all of about 20bucks (not including the

brass connections to the pvc)...and i had it up/in use for several years w/out

an issue.

I totally agree- that looks like a nice solution, and you've obviously thought about the advantages and limitations of PVC. If you're really concerned, you can put in a safety valve in-line.

I put myself through college as a plumber, so soldering copper and threading iron is no big deal to me- kind of entertaining really. But metal is a lot more expensinve, so when I get a nice shop- who knows what I'll do. Right now I have a rubber hose laying on the floor- how's that for elegant? Hmmm, where's that thread on 'rednecks'?

Many thanks.

Have been on hold for a bit getting ready for neighborhood festival. Had 2K folks tramp thru our home, as it was "on tour" this weekend! http://www.inmanpark.org/ht2005_4.php

Amazingly, they caused no more damage than a few rubbed places on walls. I actually caused more problems when--to touch up said mars--I turned over a gallon of paint in the driveway. :homer:

Garage is getting close to time to make serious storage decisions, etc., so I appreciate seeing the pics and reading your ideas.

Now, tho, it's back to cleaning up and trying to find where I hid stuff during the tour. :D
