Hi Guys,

I've always liked Moto Guzzi's. One of the few bikes that make me go OOOhh!

There is a 03 V11 Leman for sale for $8995.00 with 2808 miles. Here is the dilemma. I am in the Quad Cities Iowa. Nearest dealer is Chicago 2 hrs away. There was a dealer in Des Moines and of course Baxter Cycle in Marne IA. This would be my only bike. My commute is 40 miles one way and I would like to ride more often than not.

With a good manual I could do basic maintenance.

What's your expert opinion on price and overall reliability of a LeMans.

Thanks for your input!

Oh yeah yeah ... and how do you know this?

You've had yours for like, what.... a month?

And then promptly got it run over by a couple wannabe drift racers? :P

;)

P.S. I thought Guzzis were made from "strange" quarks :huh2:

OK OK, sorry 'moon' .... I am in a silly mood today, and have totally bastardized your thread :P I think it's because, *in theory*, I am getting my LeMans back from the shop after its being there 6 months :bike:

Many apologies :notworthy:

On topic, my hands are too tired to respond in length, and the joke about Jason's FAQ was elicited because about this time of year we get this very question(just change the model name) several times. So, we've thought about a FAQ or "sticky" topic on the subject.

You might want to do a search on "opinion" or "model" or.... well, you get the idea. Or just browse down through the last week of posts, and you'll see a handful of long threads on this very topic.

Some recent examples:

.... and all those are just from May 3rd :P

While "it depends" greatly on all sorts of things, the price on that used LeMans seems a bit on the high side. Is is a "plain" LeMans or a Rosso Corsa, which if the latter is worth a bit more of course due to the uprated suspension, maybe $500-1000 more?

A low mileage 03 RC on eBay recently never seemed to break $8000-ish if I recall.

Good luck!

I had it for a year and a Month thanks! Anyway everything I've read, seen, heard, looked up they are solid like old tractors but pull more like a muscle car easy to work on for most and not overly complicated or engineered like a jap bike. You can actually ride 100K on these without much trouble and plenty to go where as a Kawi ninja :ninja: maybe only manage 50k b4 she's ready to blow up in your face. I'll go for the long haul. Youre so anxious to get your goose back you've turned Mean!

Yeah Jaap, I didn't get that either.

DMoon, I didn't carefully read what you wrote earlier- I just noticed you're in the Quad Cities.

Seriously- Seriously drive over to Riverside (about an hour west of you off of 218) and go to Ned's Auto and Cycle. Ping me off list and I'll give you directions. Their phone # is 319-648-3241. Best damn dealer- of any brand- in the area. If nothing else, it'll be worth the drive just to talk to Jim. Ned's is open late on mondays (6:30-8:00) in addition to regular weekday hours. On monday's a lot of folks just hang out and kick tires, eat popcorn etc. Jim has a gray/red Le Mans on the "floor" (it aint much of a floor)- I don't remember the price. My bike is down there right now getting new tires and brakes.
