I'd settle for a 110 hp water cooled motor as the new engine in anything. I don't even need that kind of hp, but just because of the numbers comparison game, that is at least a reasonable one.

I've voted for the MGS01 with a 1225cc motor. I know this will be difficult because of emissions laws but that is what I want.

Maybe they could sell an emission friendly bike which could be converterted after sale with a "race" kit to the specification we really want.

I like my bikes air cooled and rorty!

Francesco, reliable sources tell there will be a new "Quota" with the Breva engine.

750 or 1100 engine?

I vote for watercooled as well. It's time for Guzzi to enter the 1980's.

A water cooled Guzzi might end up looking like a CX 500 Honda though... :bbblll:

I'll take a Griso, with the watercooled engine...

(I did like the CX500 back then)

I would love to see a ful line of the 750 including an all terrain bike (hopefullly not heavy).

I hope MG come out with a real good bike that will sell well... :mg:

They just need to make something that a non-Guzzi rider would spend his or her $$ for, otherwise they're chasing their tail. The MGS-01 might lure some, the Griso as well.

Yes I'll probably buy another Guzzi to keep the Le Mans company, but I sure as shit am not getting any younger. If they can move the average purchase age down a few years over the next 36 months, they should be ok.

But it's going to take some real marketing focus, and I hope they spend the $$ to do it right.

Just my :2c:

They should re-do the Tonti Frame in Titanium, give her big bore EE Tits, 1500cc, keep the two valve, but look to improving the legendary guzzi durability, rather than trying to compete in the HP race.

100 rear wheel HP would be just fine.

Have Marazocchi, Bitubo or Paoli make something decent for it and give it progressive springs so that it will ride ok for any weight rider.

Make the whole brake system Brembo and don't chince out.

Put Pirellis on it from the factory.

For durability, roller rockers, valves that don't wear out in their seats in 20,000 miles, a cam chain that will go 100,000 miles, clutches that don't explode, bearings that resist failing, just a little less vibration, loctite everything at the factory, lower red line, built in windage plate and deeper sump.

For style they need a retro (alla V7Sport), a cruiser(alla El Dorado), a sport tourer(alla V11GS), and a sport(alla MGS01). Same engine and frame for everything to keep cost down.

When I read Dlaing post, my first thought was Yes that's it...

Saving MG past midnight (after a very hot day)

MG product line: The confused signal that of people like me sends to MG-marketing... I am in love with MG since I saw a 1981 LeMans for the first time- then MG basically the could sell me anthing within my budget, regarless the warnings and troubles you guys Kindly shared at this web space (I carefully read before purchase :drink: ).

If I try to get real about what bike should MG produce, things may become really unclear... the only clue is the moderate success of the Breva 750 in Europ...

Sleepless Concept...

So the question is in wich for a big hit should come... for example Ducati and the Mosnter line (I almost got one), they are making it since 1993, represents about 50% of Ducati's sales... Even the name is appealing, the retro advanced trelis and look...

The edge, I feel it had against the V11 (before the Ballavio) was the ergonometrics, the weight and sitting position -more realistic for the moderate power ouput of these powerplant- There is no need for an agressive sitting position... (but to make people to buy accessories rising the V11 sporty clips) (I did like the originalclips on do),

Sports

A bike with the sweet Guzzi engine is not going to be Rocket to be competitive needs to handle easy as it does, it needs to blend retro an modern in a lighter package, hopefully below 200kg, shall it look like the Agusta Brutale? but with the sexy strait V2... Or a street legal MGS-01 :P:

The reason to buy a MG may not be power, but rather how it is delivered :bier: ....

120 Horse power Guzzi will not beat the a liter class Jap sport, it will give Guzzi just an edge against Japs like the Z1000, with the same mean-sporty-naked looking of the V11 naked.... Would the money needs to go into Horse power?...

Ducati power plants are is already more powerful and still below the Jap bikes marks, is that the driving force of the sales?.

-I guess the need for a new motor with less emissions will force the spending anyway... :2c:

Cruisers...

I do not know how well the California line up is doing, but considering that running for a long time, and the many variations of the same bike MG has done, sends me the message that it is a good sell for MG. :bike: ..

But Competing with Harley and the Jap crawd in the cruisier market forced Triumph to make a 2300 cruisier... so 1500cc for the guzzi V engine may just do not do it...

It may just be necesary to spend money selling the better, precise and easy handling of the Tonti frame applied to a crusier... would anyone care?... Shall a Guzzi 2.5 Liters be necesary? :homer:

USA market: Big engined fat cromed matress :huh2:

The tendency seems to even compromize the ground clearance to have more impressive looking bike -like the Victory-

In the crusier scene the taste analysis gets even more confused for me when I see all those exagerated lines of the Jap bikes that are indeed selling well as if a dressing code would have the same value of the authentic... it is even more confusing to see that the well selling Jap crusiers are not cheap at all...

So where is the solution besides tossing the wannabe BMW Breva 1100 to us the ones who may want a guzzi anyway?...

Put in the blender what Guzzi really is and your best guess of what people wants...

Shall MG organize crusier racing to have an arena where MG can show the California attributes... then what the right price policy would be to imporve sales...

I better go to sleep :mg:
