Guest Nogbad Posted June 5, 2005 Posted June 5, 2005 I removed the Bitubo and discovered the dead spot wasn't as bad as I feared, and was symmetrical. The strange behaviour was down to a loose rose joint in the lower triple clamp. Putting the Bitubo vertically and operating it the full stroke a few times seems to have expelled the air in the oil somehow, and with the rosejoint loctited in and everything assembled it all seems to be smooth and effective again.
callison Posted June 5, 2005 Posted June 5, 2005 Don't you just love a simple inexpensive timely fix?
Guest Nogbad Posted June 5, 2005 Posted June 5, 2005 Don't you just love a simple inexpensive timely fix? 53517[/snapback] I do indeed. You should always investigate a problem as soon as one is suspected. If I had left this, the thread in the triple clamp could have ended up knackered. There's no evidence that the Bitubo has ever wept oil, and the action afterwards was very smooth and even. Still fancy the red anodised Hyperpro though!
big J Posted June 5, 2005 Posted June 5, 2005 To quote Michael Palin in "The life of Brian"; "You lucky bastard, you lucky, lucky bastard."If that was me, not only would the damper be knackered,so would the rose joint, and undoing it I'd pull the bike on top of me and break my foot. And bust the tank. Probably not,but I've had a crap day. Well done anyway, it's aye good to hear of good news.

Martin Barrett Posted June 6, 2005 Posted June 6, 2005 Do you want me to tell you what happened me on Friday? Was it good? (Joke arrives two months late)
