Guest tinyelvis Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 Hi everyone.. please forgive my newbiness if this is in the wrong spot on the forum! SO.. I have a used Magni fairing to install on '03 V11 Sport. I had the metal bits powder coated, and I painted the fairing to match my tank (mine is a wine color, it came green). Does anyone A.)Have the original instructions I can copy or Know how to detach the triple clamp at the top because I have to put new clipons on the bike (they attach just below the clamp). I'm putting off the install because I am afraid to damage the bike as I have not done this before. I am quite mechanical, but pretty cautious. I want to get as much info. as possible, so if any of you have anything you can share re: this topic that would be fantastic. Thanks so much! Jim
Guest goosesport Posted June 22, 2005 Posted June 22, 2005 Mine came with the Magni fairing. I'll answer questions or send you photos if you like. Be very careful if you drill the screen to install the mirrors.
Gio Posted June 22, 2005 Posted June 22, 2005 Hi Jim, I ordered the fairing kit for my 2000 V11S direct from Magni two years ago and as far as I can recall it arrived without any instructions... Installation was fairly straightforward though. Just make sure you have the bike well supported from underneath before you loosen the triple clamp to fit the new clip-ons. I took the opportunity to replace the fork oil at the same time. Check for fitment against the tank on each side - I had to trim a little material from one side but otherwise the fit was good. I think I also added larger washers for the brackets that attach to the valve covers. Good luck, Gio
Paul Minnaert Posted June 25, 2005 Posted June 25, 2005 your problem might be that you have to take the small cover of the center of the bolt that holds the steering stem. A nife carefully under it will do the job.
Guest tinyelvis Posted June 27, 2005 Posted June 27, 2005 Thanks guys.. appreciate it. I'll keep everyone posted, and if I have any questions I'll ask as I go. My bike is going back in the shop soon.. so, it'll be a while before I can install it..
