Guest dogbarczar Posted July 1, 2005 Posted July 1, 2005 I Have some questions about measing TPS Voltage. My bike is a 2003 V11 Sport. With the ignition on, the voltage at the top wire was approx. 7.49 V and voltage at the middle wire was 5.0 V approx. With the bike running, the top wire was reading 0.5-0.7 mV and when the trottle was blipped up to around 2500, the reading was around 2.8 mV. The negative lead of the DVM was attached to ground at the computer. Everything I have read says the reading should be around 350-500 mV. I don't get it, whats going on? I have no driveability issues with the exception of gas mileage around 34-36 mpg no matter how I drive. Bike is completely stock. Thanks for your help.
Kiwi Dave Posted July 1, 2005 Posted July 1, 2005 The voltage should be read between the top wire and the bottom wire, avoiding the midde wire (well on my Le Mans, it is). The DVM should be connected between these two points, not between any one and the chassis. I pushed a sewing needle in each to take my reading. They're still there about 18 months later, but I haven't been back with my DVM. The motor is running too well, so why tweak?
