Just got one of those cool oil temp/dipsticks..

how hot does your oil run in C....

It was really hot and I got stuck in traffic.. no pinging but the thermo did get right up to 120C

Usually 80-100, but it gets up to 120 on occasion (traffic jams). Dead of winter, it rarely gets above 60.

also is a good idea to check the accuracy of the dipstick thermometer....i used pot of water on a stove and a good cooking thermometer. I had some variance between the two readings.

The next question would be "So what?"

Is there some upper limit that one would watch for? A point at which one would shut down and wait for cooling? Or is this Oil Temp thing simply a case of morbid curiosity?

:huh2:
