Guest aj howard Posted July 2, 2005 Posted July 2, 2005 Just got one of those cool oil temp/dipsticks.. how hot does your oil run in C.... It was really hot and I got stuck in traffic.. no pinging but the thermo did get right up to 120C
jrt Posted July 2, 2005 Posted July 2, 2005 Usually 80-100, but it gets up to 120 on occasion (traffic jams). Dead of winter, it rarely gets above 60.
gh67 Posted July 2, 2005 Posted July 2, 2005 also is a good idea to check the accuracy of the dipstick thermometer....i used pot of water on a stove and a good cooking thermometer. I had some variance between the two readings.
BrianG Posted July 5, 2005 Posted July 5, 2005 The next question would be "So what?" Is there some upper limit that one would watch for? A point at which one would shut down and wait for cooling? Or is this Oil Temp thing simply a case of morbid curiosity?
