orangeokie Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 Folks thanks for the prompt replies. And the reassurance. To me the untrained ear I would say it would sound like rattly tappets (noise coming from around the rocker covers) and I always thought that Guzzi's were never meant to sound like a jap bike. I live 30 miles south of Aberdeen and also I am currently working in the Granite City so I might just take grosohc up on his offer. Cheers Bruce 56711 This link has a couple of clickable short videos of a 2000 green V11 Sport that will give you an idea of what a proper V11 motor should sound like. Pretty cool stuff.
windchill Posted August 9, 2005 Posted August 9, 2005 They really are supposed to rattle!! Remember that the technology hasn't really changed since the 60s. Pushrods and tappets operate your vales, and do a damn noisy job of it too!! Not clever, but pretty much unburstable. As "Bike" describe them "a rolling history lesson".
rossoandy Posted August 10, 2005 Posted August 10, 2005 hi peteyour probably rite about the chop, and the cell sound brill lol Cant remember how much noise my SP made, just remember it did. so cant compare it to my V11. Iv had triumphs & BSA's that made more mechanical noise. i did hear a 1100 sport at the rock and blues last weekend, and my V11 was quieter so i think mine is normal, well as normal as guzzi's get. nigel 57232 RATTLE!!! huh u should hear my V1100 Rosso Mandello with its lightweight flywheel and multiplate sintered clutch....christ wat a row!!!
