Ohlins aftermarket shock - part # MG127

I thought that this shock did not have adjustable high-speed compression.

 

However, according to the Ohlins installation manual, this shock comes with low AND high speed compression adjustment. Can anyone verify if this is true?

I agree that it is very tempting if that feature is there. The only problem is that it is still an off-the-shelf shock (except that you will get the proper spring rate for your weight). What you might NOT get is the correct damping range.

 

The Wilbers advantage (as with Penske, or any other custom unit) is that you get it tailor-made for both spring rate, and the appropriate damping ranges for the adjusters.

Several of us have that model, and I don't recall any mention of "high speed damping", but maybe they have updated the model

 

 

 

....orrr, mine may have this adjustment, and I just didn't realize. Since I don't have my bike here in this State, I can't run out and look, but once I get out to NC I'll take a look and see.

No,

only the PRX units have separate high and low speed compression damping

adjustment.

 

What make the Öhlins unit so excellent is not the adjustability but the low

inner friction which makes it work so smoothly.

 

To learn more about the inner working and adjustment of shock absorbers

the Öhlins user manual is a good read regardless of if you have a Öhlins,

Sachs, Penske etc (or Paioli like me)

Öhlins shock absorber 46 HRCS

Your new Öhlins shock absorber features the

following adjustments:

- Compression damping adjustment

- Rebound damping adjustment

- Hydraulic spring preload adjustment

Compression damping:

Adjustments are made on top of the reservoir.

Low speed adjustments: Slotted centre screw

High speed adjustments: Hexagon screw.

Rebound damping

Adjuster wheel on the piston shaft above the end

bracket.

Hydraulic spring preload

Adjustments are made by turning the knob on

the hydraulic adjuster. Clockwise for harder

adjustment, counter clockwise to release the

preload.

Oops,

the pdf i posted said only models with PRX in the name had that feature.

I don't know and I only have a Paioli so I can't check.
