Guest ckamin
Hi! I'm about to go on a road trip and would like to use my car's cell phone charger (that plugs into the 12v lighter outlet). Does anyone make that type of an outlet that I can connect it to the battery tender lead or the battery itself (without the additional ground lead necessitating a permanent mount)? I have a V11 Sport and can easily run the adapter into the saddlebags and plug in the charger/phone in the bags themselves. Thanks! -Carl
txrider
Carl, check this source. They have a good selection including the BMW style accessory connectors which could be used with an adapter either from stock or made up. http://www.powerletproducts.com/products.php?mid=1 I'm still getting to know my LM and so can't advise on how much accessory load the alternator can support. Guzzirider
I have a cigarette lighter power socket which I bought for a few quid from a camping shop which I attach to the battery with crocodile clips. My neighbour also kindly gave me some chargers which are powered by AA batteries which are disposable and give half a charge overnight- have not tested these yet. A good idea if they work. I took them on holiday but I only turn my phone on when I want to talk to somebody so the battery never went flat! Guy
Guest bshpilot
on all my bikes ive installed a "bmw" style outlet (avail from powerlet for much less, i might add). I "hide" the outlet and fuse 'em HOT to the battery...on my battery chargers (BATTERY MINDER) i have the MALE version of the bmw outlet...i connect the chargers thru thru these BMW style connections. that being said i have also built ADAPTERS so that i can charge phones or run accessories off 'em as well i can run heated jacket liners and glove using the same outlet...its really a matter of going to an electronics store (aka radio shack etc) and finding the right plugs & adapters....you too can build 'em yourself
Admin Jaap
There are two unused bullet connectors near the battery. I believe you can use these for "appliances". My guess is that a cell phone charger isn't a problem. But I bet there are people on this board who can give you the facts on this instead of my guesswork... Guest ckamin
Hey, thanks for the replies, guys. I went to the Powerlet website and they have a cigar lighter receptacle with a battery tender-type plug which should work great for my cell charger. Then the cell can sit in the saddlebag and charge while I ride. Thanks!

Besides the phone charger it can power my little electric air pump for my blowup mattress. I attached the receptacle to the frame using tie straps.
