dlaing Posted September 10, 2005 Posted September 10, 2005 I think you should get the new Norton instead 59906
callison Posted September 10, 2005 Posted September 10, 2005 Don't trust this picture! You can see by the lighting of the faces in the helmets that it's manipulated. <_> My guess: this is the new Quota with a Buell engine photoshopped in it. That's why they have the Guzzi emblems on ther sleeves. 59873 I'm pretty sure that's the Buell emblem on the jacket. Ford uses an oval too. I actually wish that MG hadn't adopted the oval, I liked the earlier emblems more.
Guest Nogbad Posted September 10, 2005 Posted September 10, 2005 Got to admit, that Norton is quite cool. They have retained the spirit of the original. However, you can still get an original new one, made of improved parts and that is even more authentic. New "old" Nortons
milar Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 The jacket patches say Vanson. They are making the suit for Buell. If you like Guzzi's you should try the Buell. Both use pushrod twins that are tuned for a broad torque curve. Both are reliable and easy to maintain. I think alot of the characteristics you like in a Guzzi you'll find in the Uly. As to belt's reliability, the Uly uses a new belt. It has NO service interval for the life of the bike. Part of the testing for the Uly was to throw rocks into the belt and try to force it to fail. It didn't. Another interesting test was for the muffler. It is a combination muffler/bash plate. The test riders tried to break it banging on rocks. They also drove a test bike into knee deep water and shut off the engine. They let it sit in the water. Then started the engine and drove off. No damage to the muffler. M
biesel Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 Last weekend I saw a Breva on an Italian bike meeting in northern Germany with silver wheels.

But when I looked through the site I spotted the simularity. It would be nice to think they had taken inspiration from the original. I still remember the old Coburn and Hughes "long legged and easy to live with" adverts in the MCN 25+ years ago
milar Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 >Do you work at Buell? Your post makes me even more likely to buy one.... No. I'm a long time Guzzi/Ducati enthusiast. I did my research before buying a new Uly. M

milar Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 >Have you got your Uly yet? What's it like? Yes, I do have it. It's not a dual sport bike. You can tell daddy was a sportbike and not a dirt bike. It's a SPORT-tourer that can be ridden lightly on dirt/gravel roads. A friend rode it who has a V-Strom and an SV1000S. He felt it had the comfort and touring capability of the Strom with the handling of the 1000S. He was very impressed. I like it. But my idea of touring is exploring every twisting 2 lane I can find.
