Paul Minnaert Posted September 11, 2005 Posted September 11, 2005 Since I have a new injection computer, where I can adjust all parameters, I needed something to know what is happening. I got myself a wideband lambda device, Innovate Motorsports LM1, http://www.innovatemotorsports.com/products.php Now I can datalog lambda, with rpm, tps and 3 other chanels, all during normal road driveing. At home behind the PC, I can evaluate what has happend during the ride. The software allows average charts, 3d graphs and more. I hope that after some learning I'm able to optimize the program in the injection computer.
dlaing Posted September 11, 2005 Posted September 11, 2005 That looks like a lot of fun. I think I am going to give TuneBoy a try. With a lambda sensor it could be much more valuable. Of course people seem to have varying opinions on O2 sensors. snipped from Wild Guzzi al_roethlisberger wrote:Sounds interesting, but, question: Without a dyno or gas analyzer, how do you know the state of tune you are tweaking is ideal... or even close? And Will Creedon, chip burner extraordinaire replied, With respect to the gas analyzer, the same question can actually be posed about tuning *with* exhaust gas analysis! There is no invariable correlation between perfomance and exhaust gas analysis, despite what some would have you believe. Its an indicator. The "ECU" thread argued about this to the point that few could tolerate. I think if you just remember that the correlation between performance and the lambda is subject to variables, you will do very well. Just be very patient and sample lots of data.
dlaing Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 And now that I look at your chart, it looks like your engine is running very well. From what I understand, a lambda of 1 equals an A:F ratio of 14.7:1 while a lambda of 0.7 equals an air to fuel ratio of 11:1 So, in general you have some rich spots indicated by the dips.
Paul Minnaert Posted September 12, 2005 Author Posted September 12, 2005 yes to me it was a surprise, because this is with the marelli ecu, with a chip that wasn't made for the cams and exhaust. I did turn the tps to make shure not driving to lean, what might damage things. But just to see how it works, I wired it up. Also to have a reference when switching to the Moto Spezial unit.
