Rough running

After a long lay up I have got my '98 Corsa sport back on the road or I thought I had. I suspect dirt or water has got somewhere it ought not be getting into. The old corsa dies or starts to run V rough under load. If I stop it temporaraly clears then will splutter to a halt when I start to accelerate. Whilst I sort out a workshop manual (thank you Alex I am setting up that transfer ASAP) anyone tell me what I should dismantal 1st in order to clear the problem

a few tips:

- cracks in intake rubbers

- leaks in the exhaust system (joints)

- check air filter

- check petrol filter
