After owning a flat in London and one out in the country for many years I totally appreciate Pete's concern - getting anything done over there from the other side of the world is a major pain in the rectum - I dont trust a single person over there now and half these so called 'repair men' wont drive up the road unless you pay them a fortune....I think all the bloody 'dids' or gyppos got jobs as repair men in the past couple of years as it is as lucrative and the potential for rip off is just as good as when they camped across the road from your house and stole everything in sight.

I was so relieved to have recently sold one of my flats and moved the funds over here to buy property as well. So, I understand pete's concern....the problem is, that if he has some practical DIY ability it might Just be more cost effective for him to get a cheap flight there, stay with his mum and do the job rather than pay some thieving sod to do it over there!!!

I dont miss living in UK one dang bit!!! Not only that but there is an indian all you can eat restaurant just up the road from me and a nice pub so now I dont miss the UK one little bit.
