todd haven Posted September 24, 2005 Posted September 24, 2005 Just got a voice-mail from Tx Redneck. (Cell service is still sketchy due to the storm) He and his family are safe. But, 4 trees on his house, 1 IN his house. shed/workshop also wiped out. No word on his bike(not really a Solex). Will pass along details as I can.
Guest bshpilot Posted September 25, 2005 Posted September 25, 2005 DANG ! Todd how'd you and Mike fair ? and the rest of your MPH family ?
jrt Posted September 25, 2005 Posted September 25, 2005 Well, I hope at least "solex" parts are cheap. It's hard to buy new family or friends. I hope you and Mike fared well. Let us know if we can help- seriously . Despite individual instances, Houston dodged a bullet. I just got off the phone with my dear, sweet, gray-haired mother in San Marcos, and they got nothing. She said it's just hot and hot and dry and hot. For the international crowd- SM is ~200 miles (300 odd Km) inland and just south of Austin/north of San Antonio. Hey Antonio- did ya' know they named a city after you?
todd haven Posted September 25, 2005 Author Posted September 25, 2005 DANG ! Todd how'd you and Mike fair ? and the rest of your MPH family ? 61181[/snapback] We lucked out. Winds, a little rain, and some tree limbs to pick up. I spoke with Tx this evening, he is in better spirits than I would be in similar conditions. Power lines down all around, he even has a telephone pole lying on it's side in his front yard. 2 blocks in either direction reveal no missing phone poles. No idea of the source. His phone still works. He expects 2-3 weeks without power. Mike and I will head his way tomorrow with a generator to use for the duration. Along with whatever food/water/gas, etc we have left. Pretty sparse around these parts, lately. Supplies are funneling back into Houston. It willl take longer in the outlying areas.
richard100t Posted September 25, 2005 Posted September 25, 2005 Omg this is so sad. These hurricanes have just been something I see on the news. Then you hear about someone that you know (at least peripherally) being affected. I sure hope he & his family are ok. I just have extremely cold weather to deal with here in Ohio, & thats only a few weeks a year. Its nice to know that Todd is helping out with a generator. You know I wonder if he owned a Honda would the dealer send him out a genny to help? lol Guzzi owners are a close knit family. Maybe we can set up a little relief fund here on the v11 board to help Tex out? I really enjoy reading his posts & he seems like a nice enough guy
supertwin1 Posted September 25, 2005 Posted September 25, 2005 Hey JRT-my shop is located in San Marcos and your gramma is right, it was a beautiful day here in central Texas. I was lucky enough to score 3-day pass for the Austin City Limits festival...what a rockout. The show

Perhaps we can send money by PayPal or something like that for us foreigners! Todd. When you talk to Tx next ask him if he has anything like a PayPal account or similar.
antonio carroccio Posted September 25, 2005 Posted September 25, 2005 Just keep cross the fingers for all the people in the area. TX too....and of course his big hairy friend...
st. augustine Posted September 25, 2005 Posted September 25, 2005 We went through 4 huricanes last year here in Florida. Lots of people around town got generators, etc. from FEMA. The guy who painted my custom softtail was really impressed with how it all worked out. I think after it was all over (his electircity was out for 6 weeks), he was offerred to keep the generator if he paid $100, whick he gladly did. Some other folks on the west side of Florida, however are facing federal charges for receiving too big of a helping hand (if you know what I mean). My son lives in the Woodlands (North Houston) and says it wasn't too bad there(his electricity is out), but it could have been a lot worse. Let's us all know if we can assist or how to help.

Let's not forget the area north of Tx and La, it was looking like Ar and Tn are going to get a lot of rain. J

He insisted we call off our relief mission. U.S hwy 59 is closed just South of his place, so a million people returning to Houston are being funneled across the little state hiway by his place to I-45. Huge traffic delays and fuel in short supply. He will come to town to pick up a generator when traffic permits. I'm guessing sooner than later (99 F today, 37.5 C for you foreigners.) No fans, no A/C, no refrigerator. Tx has no paypal account. I will accept credit card charges and pass all proceeds to TX with full accounting to anyone who asks. I despise fund-raising scammers, this is all for TxR. All processing charges absorbed by MPH. Or mail a check. My idea, please tell me if it is secure: First 12 digits of c.c. number, along with exp. date and amount to charge, in a PM to me here. Final 4 digits, the 3-didt code on the reverse of the card, and a repeat of the amount to charge, in an e-mail to me at Todd@mphcycles.com. If this is not secure, please let me know, and offer an alternative. Thanks, Todd Haven MPH Cycles 16510 Park Row Houston, TX 77084 ph 281-647-6557 fax 281-579-9035
helicopterjim R.I.P. Posted September 25, 2005 Posted September 25, 2005 That works for me. Will send PM and email soon!
badmotogoozer Posted September 26, 2005 Posted September 26, 2005 That's great news! Better if his home had faired better, but family (Guzzi included ) is what is important. Those Texas trailers must be something serious! Rj
jrt Posted September 26, 2005 Posted September 26, 2005 I'm surprised there's not more trailer park jokes. Thanks for setting this up Todd- you're a good friend! I'll send a PM.
helicopterjim R.I.P. Posted September 26, 2005 Posted September 26, 2005 Does anyone know of any one else on the forum who was in the path of the hurricane? They probably can not communicate with us.
