DVH Posted September 25, 2005 Posted September 25, 2005 I finally received the vehicle log book from swansea this weekend and its described as a V11 Lemans Tenni , colour Red, Hmmm All UK Rosso corso owners can you have a look at your log book and see what your guzzi is recorded as, DVLA tell me there is no such bike, according to there records from the manufacturer, only a Lemans or Lemans Tenni

I think all V11 Le Mans are listed as Tennis by the DVLA. Guy
Martin Barrett Posted September 25, 2005 Posted September 25, 2005 My 2003 Lemans in Grigio Titanium (black) is also shown as a Tenni. I couldn't be bothered to change it. Might raise an eyebrow if it comes to selling or ins write off but is explainable. Most motorcycle records just have make and engine size, colour, engine and frame numbers You get allsorts of cock ups on the DVLA records, especially the body type. The main one to check is the frame number, if thats wrong get it sorted. The new MOTs are all computerised and a difference there should throw up alarm bells. I think you would get away with riding all your Moto Guzzis on the same number plate, ins and VEL provided that they were all the same colour.
DVH Posted September 25, 2005 Author Posted September 25, 2005 Thanks guy's the frame and engine number match, the tenni part that is recorded by DVLA will explain now when I tried to insure it, it kept coming back as a tenni and most insurance brokers had never heard of a rosso corsa. including the likes of carol nash and bennetts, norwich union

They phoned me back a few hours later to say they now knew what a Rosso Corsa was and grouped it same as a 1200 Bandit in group 13. It was hard work for a while but I got there in the end. Guy
grossohc Posted September 25, 2005 Posted September 25, 2005 Hi ,I just checked my dvla cert. my cafe sport is called a v11 sport and the colour is silver (its bronze). my virgin insurance document classes it as a v11 sport, surely if i have a claim on my insurance it will be ok, ie if i knacker my forks they would put ohlins back on. the only thing missing is the word "cafe". Just when i thought guzzi ownership could not be better i get something else to worry about, Ah well.

They may have decided to group all the V11's in to the same group and calling them lemans or sports for simplicity sake. However if they have decided that the Ohlins equiped bikes warrant a higher grouping/loading you need to have covered this. We are such a small segment of the market I would be surpised if they went to the trouble of risk assessing each model. They would rely on the dealer the bike went to to prepare an estimate, and I would have thought that any damage to forks would indicate a possiblity of a bent frame and would write the bike off anyway. Ins cos are in the buisness of making money for thier names, so have to balance admin costs amongst other things. They may look to wriggle on paying out and this could give them a loop hole. But their bigest expense isn't going to be the difference between Ohlins and non Ohlins it will be third party claims esp injury. Unless you got new for old cover I'd be surprised if they'd pay out more than 5.5K unless you've got agreed value. I could be totally wrong - but for piece of mind check. Oh I'm not sure bronze is an approved DVLA colour. I'll check tomorrow night when back at work.
DVH Posted September 26, 2005 Author Posted September 26, 2005 The insurance angle took some time to sort, everyone wanted to class it in the same group as a fireblade/ blackbird. that will be £ 545 please sir, Like hell, well sir it is a high performance machine according to our underwriter ( shows what he knows ) They couldn't get there heads around the fact it was the same as my V11s sport only with a nose fairing and ohlins fitted. My local MG dealer suggested I tried LEXHAM insurance brokers specialise in Guzzi. rang them, yes, heard of the rosso Corsa, Group 13 £289 fully comp £100 excess Protected No claims 5 points on license cover is with Equity Red star and the Certificate actually states the Model as V11 Lemans Rosso Corsa
