Poetry in motion?

Just opened up the 'No Direction Home' double CD. There's a pic of Dylan on his Triumph, from 1965 or thereabouts.

From a Google search:

July 29th, 1966

Bob Dylan crashes his Triumph 55 motorcycle while riding near Woodstock, New York. He is sent to Middletown Hospital with several broken neck vertebrae, a concussion and cuts on his face and scalp.

Suffered mild amnesia, paralysis & internal injuries.

He goes into 9 months of seclusion, to recover

Rumor mill has him in a coma, a vegetable, never performing again, dodging the draft, passing on or losing his mind due to drug use

But what the heck is a 55? I don't think it is the year.

That looks like a mid sixties Bonnie.

That would be a 500 Daytona. It can be said that they were a sweet light little bike, quite good handling as a result, but were so gutless, they couldn't pull the skin off a custard. Most were good for only 75-80 mph topped out.

Those are some great pics BFG! Can't sing... well, OK, but does surprisingly well for a guy who crushed his larynx in said crash...

Can't argue his songwriting ability tho'!

I don't know what he crashed on, but if Steve says that's a Daytona then it's a Daytona.  The boy knows his bikes!!!

:notworthy:

Triumphs of this age are worse than modern Guzzis to tell apart.

Looks to have a single carb.

Definatlely no bath tub, nachele, unit construction and single down tube.

Post 64 and its not the TT Special.

With the single carb varients I instictively say Tiger

But when you look at the historic model names and what they are used for now the usages have totaly changed :huh2:

I defer to Steve

The Triumph 350 was called a 55 (cubic inches) in America. It's a 3TA that he crashed.
